Why is everyone trying to boycott it know? I know they've announced changes to the format, but for hell's sake, its Bioware, they aren't going to mess it up - their like Valve in that regard, even their biggest 'messes' are still really awesome by everyone else's standards.
Hmm...

It is only a few people who want the boycott if you look at the poll you would understand.

i might be worried about a distinctive EA pattern Bioware is using nowadays, but i believe in a long term its for their own loss
Truth be told DA II is the first Bioware title im not excited about (and yes i was there from the first DA forum days) ,
Makes me wonder tho, how this gonna influence ME3

If they are only half making a game I feel justified in paying half the price or less. They did not deserve full price on their last few outings due to their half finished efforts. As for the DLC that is so shoddy buggy and poorly thought out, I do not mind missing out on any launch exclusive stuff.
I am far more excited about Fall Out Vegas to be honest.

The only way I'd boycott is if I found out BioWare employees were actually impoverished children in China woking under a subsidiary of Wal-Mart.
Seriously though, seems like a pretty genius marketing strategy. Release all the controversial stuff first, before soothing the masses with more intersting stuff. Sort of reminds me of boot camp in the military where they break you down upon arrival and slowly build your confidence.

well, if it diddn't cause all the commotion on the Bioware boards
of the past and now from each and every game announcement
day on for weeks, it truly was the work of a genius.

Edit:
Pinky: When will we set the boards aflame again?
Brains: Next major game title announcement day.

Its like falling in love with a shy, introvert French exchange student who expresses her feelings via quaint water color paintings, and then having a long distance relationship with said student, and finally at the long awaited reunion she comes to you with breast implants, collagen injected lips and hair extensions.

Ah but that's all part of the genius of it. Look how much attention they're getting from it. Start with the controversy, then after you've gathered the audience, you start showing the goodies.
Nevermind that everyone claims that DA2 is actually a witch:

Ok, ok, past performance is no certainy of future sucess, but I do think declaring that you won't buy something at this stage because of what you think it'll be like isn't really a smart move. Ok, I might get burned in the end, but I'm fairly confident that DA 2 will turn out good.

The question will be whether you will be
a) Turned on by it "Damn, you look hot!" (insert cheesy DragonAge sex scene)
c) Indifferent "It doesn't matter. Whats important is whats "inside".

BioWare are, supposedly, one of the best RPG creators in the business. They cannot hold that position forever. Westwood were one of the best RTS makers, with Dune 2 and the early C&C games. Blizzard came along with Starcraft, and you go on from there.Doug84 wrote...

This could be a similar situation to what happened to Westwood - They do well under other publishers, and for the first couple of releases under the new publisher, but over time the quality fades and you end up with, well, C&C3 and 4.
As a consumer, we all have the right to decide what we do or don't buy. To say it's not a smart move to claim you're not interested is a bit silly itself, because what has been announced might turn people off or move DA2 down their list of "gaming purchase priorities". As an example, Fable 3 is low on my list as there's a lot of expansions and sequels coming out towards the end of the year and I would rather get them than Fable 3. And if I don't like cartoony graphics in games, that would instantly remove DA2 from my list.
DA2 isn't on my list - It's not a "I will never buy this game ever", I would suspect it's a "At this stage, I'm not interested in purchasing the game, but future revelations or post-release price reductions may sway me to obtain it" situation for many of us who aren't overwhelmed by what we've been told so far.

some people on here needs a reality check, if they believe that being critical is the same as trolling, anyone with half a brain knows that's not true!
I will always prefer to be critical rather than be an happy fool.
