Fallout was longer than Deus Ex, but its story was nowhere near as deep or complex

So true, Fallout series is one of the all time bests, looking forward to New Vegas and the new Hardcore Mode. From what I've seen of DA:O, DA:Awakening as well as a little DA2, the Dragon Age series of games looks very promising indeed.

I did not say that! The fact that I could not properly equip my squadmates infuriated me in Fallout 1 and 2 (seriously one guy proficient with SMGs, I gave him a knife and an SMG, could NOT EVER get him to use the SMG and give up the knife, no matter what I gave him). Fallout was good as a nonlinear game, but its combat was bested by Jagged Alliance. The setting was better than Deus Ex, but overall that game had better storyline presentation and more realized gameplay mechancs.

Firstly, I'm going to get both. Secondly, Diablo 3 is never being released, so it's a moot point.

I just wish they'd make a modern day Lost Vikings. 2D and all, especially since hte co-op explosion of the modern era

Besides which, they are rather different games when you get down to it - DA2 is an rpg, while D3 is a hack n' slash with atmosphere and story but little rp depth.

Nothing says that the audiences for one won't also purchase the other ... I know I will.

yeah but its possible that DA2 could turn out to be like a hack n' slash

There should be plenty of room in the market for both of these games.

Truth be told there are alot of good looking games being released around the same time, The Witcher 2, of course D3, DA2 are all going to be out about the same time. Truthfully, the previous games to the following Diablo 3, The Witcher 2, and DA 2, were so good to begin with that for all intensive purposes the first quarter of 2011 is going to be an expensive time for me. I have already set aside the 180 dollars for the 3 titles because the previous installments of those games were good. I will pre order them around november of this year and be glad to do so.

The point is that because the previous games in the series were so good this entitles thier developers a bit of latitude on the other hand because of the changes made to ME2 (which was pre order) from ME means that ME3 will not be treated to the same latitude afforded the other games mentioned. I am not saying i will not buy ME3 but i may need to wait for the mod community to afford me some options concerning game play. As it stands, with out a modded Coalesced.ini ME2 is all but unplayable in my opinion not from a stability standpoint but game play wise (loosing movement controls like crouch, plus the whole walk by a wall and get glued to it cover system, and the ammo system sucks). As petty as it sounds for me the change in the ammo system from ME to ME2 just kills the fun for me and i will have to wait and see what the changes for ME3 will be before i buy it.

Deux Ex is coming out around the same time as DA2 - early 2011 - as well and on all 3 platforms too.

Is Diablo's release confirmed? From Diablo III FAQ - http://us.blizzard.c...iablo3/faq/#3_1
When will Diablo III be released?
It's too early to estimate Diablo III's release date. [snip] ...

They teased the game forever though, f**kin assh*les xD

Heh that's usual Blizzard, but they do polish their games pretty well before release. Refreshing not to have a rushed product. Blizzard vs EA? Well I'd better remain silent on this forum lol.

It's an action RPG. So yes, it's an RPG.

How do you define RPG? Or more importantly ROLEPLAYING?

I could argue that linear, scripted, story RPG's aren't truly RPG's either.

Diablo is a 3D take on the Roguelike genre.

Rogue is one of the original Computer RPGS. Diablo 2 was a linearization of those elements based on fundamental gameplay of Diablo.

If you define Pen and Paper as the only criteria for Rpg then it is not. But if you define it from a video game standpoint and lineage, then yes it is.

I actually wish Dragon Age was more like Diablo III and kept the above view always.
The budget for the game would probably coast less as well due to no fancy wancy cut-scenes and facial animations. Probably less demanding, easier to create user content with tile and more content. Man,.Diablo III looks cool, wish it wouldn't take a lifetime to come out, but I suppose that's the punishment for getting polished, non patch to work on duel CPU games.

We might be dead by then. 2012 Alien invasion and the Earth reduced to space dust.

jk, I don't believe the Mayans are right, but It's still interesting, especially as years go by and the suspense builds...
On topic, I don't think Diablo 3 even counts as a competitor, release dates too far apart.
