1st off the name Hawke sucks, dont care what you say, you all spent at best 5 minutes of this, Raven might of come up as well but a coin toss decided this.

The truth of the matter is you only allowing us one origin story now, instead of the multiple you gave us with the original. as some one said earlier and it needs to be repeated your making us play your hero instead of our own.

And that basiclaly is a step backwards and is not a sequel in my eyes.

But what it is , is easier and simpler and allows you to capatilze on a name quicker.

So please stop lying to us, I have never crapped on bioware ever, well except you not allowing throwable spears in any game or whips which I asked for from bg1.

I have no doubt that  DA2 will be a decent game, but its going to be the temple of doom  instead of the last crusade. your just trying to make a buck. its sure as hell not a decent follow up.

The Warden was never really your hero. What he/she had to do was set in stone. The background was customizable, sure, but it hasn't been confirmed that Hawke is from Lothering, and has lived there all his life. For all we know you will be able to use your imagination.

I liked Temple of Doom. More than the Last Crusade, but Raiders of the Ark is the best.

BioWare isn't an indie company, of course it is trying to make a buck, or a million.

I actually don't mind Hawke, better than Cousland, but a name is just a name, not everyone likes the one they're born with.

I enjoy BioWare's stories and look forward to this one. As well as another Jade Empire, but that is yet to be seen.

Man, these threads are tedious.  I must have a masochistic streak in me for even bothering to read them, since I know what they're all going to say.  Sometimes, I just use it as an opportunity to see how many grammar and spelling mistakes people can make.  For example, the title of this thread alone has six.

this is just not true, for Baldur's Gate using the same character worked also perfectly

By the way there was supposed to be a human peasant origin story in DAO but I guess they relized that instead of DLC they could make a full game of it.

I logged 140 hours on DAO, playing all the different combinations, but now,  I only get a choice of one.

And these threads specificalt have come becuase of IGN and 1ups previews. of this game.

well theres only 7 months left in development so yeah it's a bit late.



honestly i would like to see a poll on this. to see how many people like the new idea bioware is going with, compared to sticking with the warden on a sequel .



me personaly i like the new idea though i admit there are a few flaws in my opinion that i see, and i still like the idea of continueing with the warden. but i would have stuck with the warden i see better possibilities in it.

ITS BEING CONZOLISED! Bioware has sucumb to EA and the masses and have begun ****ing up the DA universe! I guaruntee the sequal will suck!

Uh, no. There was no Human Commoner origin because, IIRC, it didn't fit in with the narrative.

And you know, I could play a Cousland that slept around with LIs, killed children, destroyed holy relics or I could play a Cousland that hated liars and refused to support Bhelen, Isolde, Alistair, or any character that could lie to you. I could marry a queen or die a commoner.

I'm sure you have a vast array of what you can or cannot do. If you choose to limit your personality based on your species, that's your own fault. You didn't have to be a noble Cousland, you didn't have to knock anyone up as an Aeducan. You choose to see Hawke's origin as a reflection directly upon their personality, with one set path.

I dont care if Hawke or Comander Ace I PWN the World, is a narcisicitic necrophilia dwarf, a lord of a county or a captain of a ship, its the fact there only doing one story where DAO had lots.

Its a step backwards, its not offering as much as the original. A sequel in my eyes shoudl offer more the the original

EDIT: Also, I'm guessing these threads are popping up because the Comic-Con demo is gaining publicity.

It's a matter of perspective. For some, the Origin choices were purely superficial, and only one of them--Human Noble--granted a gameplay change.

But they are offering more. Hawke will very much be your character; the devs have said that you can shape him in many ways, and that his rise to power can be attained various ways. Whereas the Warden can only kill the archdemon and save Ferelden.

Don't just judge the game by the backgrounds. Shaping your character by your actions in game is just as important.
