1st off the name Hawke sucks, dont care what you say, you all spent at best 5 minutes of this, Raven might of come up as well but a coin toss decided this.

The truth of the matter is you only allowing us one origin story now, instead of the multiple you gave us with the original. as some one said earlier and it needs to be repeated your making us play your hero instead of our own.

Wow some criticism I've never heard before............ sarcasm obviously, is a new thread for the same old boring criticism needed?

As for it being a step back its been said before but it bears repeating there are other RPG just as good if no better than  DAO which give the player even less choice with their character then it sounds like DA2 is giving us. So why is it a step back? The story of Hawke may demand a more focussed character.

Personally, I like having a voiced character .

Ugh I don't. It breaks the immersion, and I never identify with the character.

BioWare doesn't owe any of us anything. They're not going to cater to
one person's opinion just because they yell the loudest. BioWare is
doing what they want to with their own games, and if anyone doesn't like
it, well, they're perfectly welcome to not play them.

I am always amused by this attitude. You are just a consumer and Bioware is just selling your product. If anything, then consumers owe nothing to Bioware, which is just trying to have you spend money on their products. Treat it like any other company that you buy from. If the cars they are selling are broke, you criticise them.

But this car isn't broken, buddy. It just doesn't fit your needs and likes and when this situation arises you shut up and move on to the next car.

If your capacity for roleplaying is so restricted that you can't or won't even do that, then why are you playing CRPGs in the first place?[/quote]
Usually the games don't feature such repulsive entities as Hawke. I didn't play God of War which has a similiar looking character.

Why are you assuming that you have to look like that? You'll still get options to change appearance since you can be either gender, for a start (or, at least I'm hoping my Lady Hawke won't look like that )

Sure, that it came with seven colours once, and now only with one, doesn't mean it's broken.Just ugly.

Remind me which part of Dragon Age 1 had the non-superficial difference

The one in which I was able to choose from several characters with completely different way of life, race and history.

If you draw sort of a mind map, with every origin story as a little seperate bubble, and then link them to where each of them leads to. All the lines will converge on "becomes the warden" bubble. Of course the origins stories are cool, but actual game play wise its 99%(?) the same thing.

Despite that, I suppose you mean when you start out different, in your mind, you play the rest of the game differently. And because you invested more imagination into it, those characters become your characters, because really, you created them. In essence, the journey is more important than the destination?

Except you can test-drive a car. Anyway Bioware at least has been honest about reducing the choice content in the game, and making it more combat orientated, as well as showing ninja-like moves it will have.

You can try a demo of the game usually before you buy it.

Six colors. And an ugly car can still run well.;)

The characters are different though and play wise 99% of the time I am playing the character I picked.

Of course you can't remember my game, because like in most RPG what happened on screen was just a small part of my identification with the character.

Ah, so most of the game happens in your head? Well, in that case, I think the fact that Bioware is taking away your ability to write fan-fiction about their game is a travesty, and I want to join in your protest of them daring to restrict your imagination like that.

To think, it's almost like they're designing something that isn't supposed involve making up the content yourself.

The characters for Hawke will be able to be customised differently for each play through, only difference is they're all human. If you can't dream up different characters who all happen to be human well your imagination really isn't that good.

I think Kordaris meant role-playing, because the warden really is an empty vessel of sorts, where you are free to fill in all the blanks.

No, not only human. All of them will have the same backstory, be from the same family as well.
In essence you will be able to place only male/female Hawke.

I didn't think the colorfulness was all that great. Try as you will you're arguing an opinion and you're not going to win. All I'm saying is that even with you not being able to choose your race the game can still be awesome. Every game doesn't be exactly like DA:O to be worth playing.

...a character whose looks you can customize? Is this even a serious complaint? Not that the blind DA2 hate was ever rational, but this seems extreme, all the same.

From the outside, of course. That's the only viewpoint you can see the paint job from. Fortunately for me, when I drive a car I'm inside it, not outside looking in. Poor Kordaris.

So fill in the blanks each time differently. I hardly think we're going to get a detailed history from before the game starts. If your imagination is so great you should be able to do that.

Well Dragon Age 1 was awesome because it allowed for interesting customisation of the PC. Dragon Age 2 will remove the elements that made Dragon Age 1 awesome. Instead it will have more combat, only one character to choose from(who looks and sounds ultra-cheesy), a terrible narrative(flashbacks!).There is nothing awesome about. It reminds me of God of War.

What are you guys talking about?? First of all it's already too late, they even have a demo, so why would Bioware change it into a "real sequel". Besides this IS a sequel. You just don't play the same character as in Origins and Awakenings. You can import origins saves... What does that mean to you huh?

well since pmaura seems to have gained the power to see the future and see how dragon age 2 will have so few choices, i think i'll try it too........ oh my god dragon age 2 is a such a great game, there are so many choices, i mean first in lothering when hawke... and then we he meet flemeth and said... and when he was finally became the champion, and...? is that a voice cameo by cary elwes?

yes and the first great choice you have is in the creation of the name, oh you dont, my mistake your called Hawke. That so original 3rd grade fantasy name.

Well, your name didn't really have any significance in the first game (Origins) either? You would always be known as "The Warden" to everybody else. You still get the option to give Hawke a first name, whatever it'll be, not that it will have any effect on the game's storyline as a whole. :)

You've made up your mind then.  What do you hope to accomplish with your endless stream of negative posts?
You won't change anything and I doubt you'll discourage anyone from buying DA2. At this point you're wasting you're own time. You have the right to feel that way and say what you're saying I just dont see the point when no one who is already committed to the game really cares.
