I would have preferred she stuck around, rather then the corpse you get later. Don't need her much as a warrior, but as a rogue, nice to have a second heavy around through the game.
Mhairi is a Warrior... Not a rogue. Unless if you are talking about a backup tank. I learned a lot about tank builds from Mhairi actually. I was doing a full playthrough with my first character with no "take-backs" if I screwed up. Now I know to have a tank with 42 strength with 30 dex/health minimum.

I was disappointed, I wanted a female warrior companion (...that isn't made of rock)...
Ya, besides Shale, all the female companions were "squishy" in an RPG sense. Itd be nice to break gender roles. Besides having a Tank FemWarden or something.

Oh, I know she's a warrior. As I read that back, I really wasn't clear.
Playing a warrior, she's not needed, since me and ohgren fill those roles nicely from the beginning (I like 2 warrior parties).
Playing AS a rogue, she would have come in handy to pair with Ohgren as my second warrior.

Here is my Mhairi character that I made on Dragon Age Character Creator. What do you guys think? Know anyone who has it perfectly down?

Take a look at the portrait. The lighting in the character creator is weird.

And I do like Mhairi - had she stuck around, she might have been my favorite female character.
Alas, with her brief appearance, she's more like that girl you meet on vacation, flirt with while there, then go home, never to see her again. . . .

That's pretty good, actually, but not quite right, though I'm not sure what, exactly, is off.

Thanks for the feedback. Heres My Mhairi 2.0

I brought down the facial features, changed the skin texture, and tinkered with her nose.

Not that what you did doesn't look good, but it would've been perfect if you actually used her head morph.

You know, I think you could've extracted her head morph and used the toolset to plant it on your character. People have done it for Anders and Nathaniel so I guess it could've been done with Mhairi.

How do I do that then?

Ok, first things first, you need the toolset:
http://social.biowar...page/da-toolset
Hopefully you already have it installed, otherwise get to it!
Now, you need to extract Mhairi's morph from the data folder for Awakening. Go to your C:\\Program Files\\dragon age origins\\packages\\core_ep1\\data (or wherever you have DA installed, in the Steam folder if you have that version). There you will find a file called "face.erf". Open it with the toolset and scroll down on the list of .mor files until you find "hf_int100_mhairi.mor". Right click on it and select the option "extract resource". Extract wherever you want in your PC (my documents, desktop, etc.).
Now you need to open a savefile from your current game. I assume you're still early on the campaign so you won't have a problem with savefiles that are too big (this is a problem with the toolset). Your savefiles are located in "My Documents\\BioWare\\Dragon Age\\Characters\\CharacterName\\Saves" (this is for XP, I think it's a bit different for Vista and 7, but you shouldn't have much trouble finding it).
Open the most recent one (the .das file) with the toolset and from there on, follow the instructions detailed on this page (go to the section "Changing the character in your game"):
http://whuffie.wordp...d-morph-for-pc/
And that would be it. Open your game and your character should have have Mhairi's exact look.

At least now I know how to place Awakening head morphs on Origins characters. That'll make me think posting that was not a complete waste of time.

People prattle on about how boring she was, but don't you think they could have added much more depth to her if she would have been around for the whole game? I'm sure there would have been some good skeletons in the closet.
As far as a Mhairi DLC goes....a standalone DLC showing previous events in Mhairi's life would be great. I'm not 100% into standalone DLCs, but I think it's probably the only way to do a good one for Mhairi given that she's with us for such a short time.

Nice Mhairi creation! Also, nice work, Zjarcal. I'm going to get the PC version of DOA & DAA soon, it just sucks having to buy all the DLCs again.

Exactly. Why did she want to join the Wardens? There's got to be good story there. Why did she become a soldier in the first place? She seems kind of timid and unsure when we meet her, not the kind of woman I'd think would do that . . .
She seems very serious about honor . . . is she a commoner? A noble? A bastard? Why so interested in honor?
There's more to Mhairi, and I wanted to know what it WAS!!!!!!!!

From the DA wiki...
When Mhairi was a child, she was enraptured by tales of kings and nobles. All she wanted was to be like them, to fight for what she believed. Betrothed to a trader when she turned 16, she saw the life that lay ahead of her and enlisted in the army instead. Her fierce loyalty and devotion to Ferelden earned her the love and respect of her commanders and brothers-in-arms.
Loghain's betrayal of Cailan and his death hit Mhairi hard, and when she learned of the two Grey Wardens who quelled the Blight almost single-handedly, she vowed to serve the Wardens. When the call came for volunteers to help rebuild the order at Vigil's Keep, Mhairi jumped at the chance to join.

Yes, but I wanted to hear that from her . . . . . .

Most people seem to say that you can't have *everyone* survive the Joining, but is having one token death much better? People also say the Joining should be presented as serious and dangerous. Really? Is that why they turn Oghren's Joining into a stupid belch joke? Is that why everyone else just sort of faints comically instead of the writhing agony that went on in Origins? Is that why every single companion wants to become a Grey Warden and put a cap on their lifespan and submit themselves to an inevitably violent and unpleasant end for essentially no good reason?
The Joining in Awakening was probably my least favorite part for all those reasons, and more. Plus it also really bugged me that Varel said the words ("Join us, brothers and sisters" and so forth) instead of my Warden.

Still, it was pretty disappointing. I was really looking forward to getting to play the mentor this time around. Plus I was a pretty big fan of Cauthrien in Origins, and Mhairi reminded me a lot of her.
Hopefully DA2 will give us a scrappy female warrior.

Um, what? That's not the case. Mhairi hero-worshipped them like Jory did and the Crown did call for volunteers and she signed up. Oghren was running away from his wife and child and since the last time he'd really felt good enough was when he was fighting the Archdemon with you, he went to the Wardens. Anders doesn't volunteer, you conscript him to save him from the Templars and he makes the best of it. Nathaniel either is also forcibly conscripted or literally has nothing else in this country and is looking for a way to both stay close to home and try to redeem his family name. Velanna doesn't give a damn about being a Warden, she just wants to find her sister and you tell her that being a GW would help her do that. Sigrun seems the Grey Wardens as really close to the Legion of the Dead and her unit has been all wiped out.Is that why every single companion wants to become a Grey Warden and put a cap on their lifespan and submit themselves to an inevitably violent and unpleasant end for essentially no good reason?
No one here knows anything about the thirty-year lifespan thing when they signed up and several of them proved to be at least mildly suicidal anyway. And really, the Joining would have turned into MORE of a joke if anyone they thought to hand the chalice to made it through just fine.
