Too bad that exploration largely had no weight to me whatsoever. The screenshot looks great, but it does not really personify my experience driving in barren, boring planets for the ME1 sidequests, which is what I remembered the most. The driving felt like pointless filler.

Exploration or not. I just want more space goodness. Nothing beats a sky full of stars (i.e. Bring Down the Sky), or a brilliant planet shining over your head (i.e. the moon you land on from Major Kyle's mission), or a beauitiful red giant glowing in the sky. This is why ME1 truly gives you the feeling that you're in outer space.

I did like that Overlord brought that back, even if it was onep lanet, it was wonderful. Space cows, water, cliffs and just great to look at. I support more DLC like that in the future for ME2!

I think the main problem in both games is that there is this big red line between main and side missions. Hub worlds are for main quests and have some small side missions, and the uncharted worlds are for the 'big' side missions. If Bioware can create some big side missions for the hub worlds and ME3, I would certainly approve.

This. That's why I enjoyed Ish's mission the most. You had to go to the other two hub worlds to get the two datapads then bring them back, plust here was other solutions. I would love other side missions to be like that.

Lol, it was practically nothing and you know it. So little it's not worth mentioning.

I mean a dialogue wheel, I want a dialogue wheel.

Hello? Stranded quarian? We must have some paragon/renegade response choices here.

Paragon: I'm Shepard. I'm here to help you. I have a quarian on my ship with an adorable voice and I therefore feel compelled to help every quarian I see.

Renegade: Oh look, another quarian who needs my help. It's like outside the Flotilla you people forget how to walk properly. You set one foot outside the fleet and fall over. One wonders how any of you would even return from Pilgrimage if I didn't show up at the right time.

How can you really have a "big" mission on a hub world?

And even then some of the biggest side missions were acquired or involved a hub world.

Ish is a perfect example, there is four solutions, one of them is going to the other two hub worlds. So it's not hard, but it does take alot of resources.

Well, I think they did it right with KotOR, so why can't they do it right with Mass Effect? Main quests and side quests were more or less woven into eachother in there, making it more of a universe rather than just a game.

I never liked missions like that. I mean what does Shepard look like an errand boy! If you want someone, or more likely many someones  "taken care of" then shepards your man/woman, but all they're asking you to do is to go to one place, pick up an item, and then come back... seems like a waste of talent if you ask me.

The problem with KoToR was each world felt isolated. You never get the sense that this is a Galactic community as missions never really ventured beyond the planet from which they were acquired...though it has been a while since i've played it so may be mistaken.

Yeah the worlds were isolated, just like with the ME games. But to me KotOR did a better job in combining main and side quests.

See now what they have deprived us of?

Don't even get me started on what you could've said to that colony whose shield generator you had to flip back on or whatever.

Dialogue puts everything in perspective.

I hardly remember any of the sidequests from KOTOR. Then again, I didn't do that one where you get put into some weird dimension if you look into the box...there is a sidequest like that, right?

Coolest "wtf" moment ever. I was like, "And I almost didn't take this smuggling job. Awesome!"

Actually kraidy, I didn't like the Ish mission because it was glitched. It's either give him the packages which will undermine Aria (which I don't like), tell Aria's goons on him and get Ish killed, or paragon persuade him and have the quest remain open for FOREVER.

You know interwoven side missions with the main mission sounds nice, however something occurs to me. If every single mission had connections to the main story it would bug the hell out of me. This is an entire galaxy, there has to be stuff going on that isn't tied to the central story arc you are going through. On another note, every side mission having combat and a lot of dialog and pretext would also bug me.

Just think about one UNC mission. The one where you had to find the data module the monkey's took. I thought I was finally going to get a mission that involved no combat. But of course as soon as I find it the geth show up. Why did that need to happen? Simply put, it didn't. Heck even the base where you find Toombs didn't have any real reason to have combat in it, especially since those monsters were just lounging about while Toombs held the scientist up.

As far as side mission pretext, I would like some exposition for missions that are a little bit bigger and may be tied to the main plot. However again this is a galaxy, there are things out there that not everyone is aware of. I'd find it a bit suspect if Hackett just called me before every mission and told me what was going on. I mean how would he have a briefing prepared for every mission.

I think the best thing would be to have some slightly bigger side quests with minor ties to the plot the incorporate some exposition. However I also like the missions where nothing is really told to you and you need to read files and listen to audio logs to piece together for yourself what happened. After all variety is the spice of the galaxy.

Hopefully sidequests from both games come to something in ME3. I am wondering, for instance, if my choice with the Preaching Hanar will do anything. Hopefully, it will.

Yes there's a side quest where you need to deliver a weird box to the Hutt on Tatooine. I recommend you do that one. It's quite interesting, if you look into the box that is Image IPB.
