Perhaps Sten only killed a part of that family

family - which is why he ended up in that cage in Lothering. But what if it in
fact was only a Part of the family he wasted. Perhaps two of the familys
siblings where not at home at the time of the killing. See where I'm going?
It could be cool if the family Sten wasted was
most of the Hawke family. It could be used for some pretty cool character
development I believe. All the qunari look alike, so maybe Bethany is slightly racist
towards the qunari because of the incident with Sten. It's like when she see a
qunari she see the face of the man who wasted almost her entire family. So
therefore the qunari people sicken her.
Also it could be cool just to see Sten again in
DA2, and get a chance to tease him, while he is in that cage. Maybe poke him
with a long stick with something on the end - perhaps a little bit of crap.

And maybe Sten is also Hawke's step mother.
Anything is possible with the qunari I guess.

Hawke left Lothering when the darkspawn attacked and became Champion of Kirkwall. I dont think that a child could do that.

Really? Is that so. I don't recall, but that is quite interesting. I hope so (yes I hope my old party-member brutally slaughtered my new character's family.. I'm quite a horrible person).

That way he would instill in the newborn a burning hatred for Sten and the Qunari alike and ultimately he would also have set the newborn on an eternal quest for revenge. Of course this newborn would be Hawke.
Then later when Hawke's got his party together and he's trying to explain to them why he wants to wage war on the Qunari he'll be all like: ''They denied me my GODDAMN MILK man'' and they'll be like ''Wtf dude it's just milk'' and he'll be like ''Yeah they also killed my family and stuff but that happens to everyone anyway what's important is they DENIED me my GODDAMN MILK'' and then he'll also explain how he can't function socially like a normal person because he's got this strong Freudian nipple complex that has him suckle any in sight leading to awkward situtations.
Eventually however as Hawke has sprinkled a female character with enough empty compliments and gifts in order for the relationship to become sexual he can impregnate her and then when she conceives he can toss the baby into a river with sharks or something (because he's not dumb as **** as sten he'll actually kill the baby) and then get the breast milk for himself solving all his psychological issues altogether.
Eventually as it kinda meaningless now that his urge has been satisfied Hawke decides to cancel his war on the Qunari and just have an old hag put some random curse on Sten so that he balds and his libido fails so that he may never do what he did to Hawke to another.

How they fight a lot and how humorous it is to hear.
Keep it vague.

When you ask the revered mother what crime Sten committed, she tells you that only the youngest child "hid long enough to survive."

Ah, but "child" then not "children"? Hm.. still I hope there is some connection. Even if Hawke's father is just that rude farmer with a pole up his butt about your warden being a warden
