Their suits make them look as moles but is that what they are inside?

I think there was some old concept art floating around a while back, and it depicted a volus head - essentially, they looked like a combo of human and walrus.

I don't know if the art is considered canon, though.

I just don't get why quarians have to have their helmets polarized, and why the volus can't have clear headgear like everyone else.

I would guess that the pressure they normally inhabit is too high for practical helmets made out of purely transparent material. I mean, these are guys who'd burst if they were at a pressure of 1 Atmosphere. They gotta be living at about 30-40 atm...

I wonder since they breathe methane, why they make a breathing sound at all.

I imagine a Volus would look like a shaved mole that bleeding out of every oriface... Without the suit, outside their native environment.
