How much will the choices you make in ME1 effect ME3?
I want to have a full set of Paragon/Renegades to play through the entire series but since ME2 is so different to ME1 I got used to the new combat style and better optimization that I'm not sure I want to Mako around 3000 planets again.
I also don't like that in ME2 without an imported character I always have the humans running the council etc.
Hard decision here.

The obvious one is saving the Rachni Queen. If you saved her in ME1, it is strongly implied that the rachni will be aiding you in your fight against the reapers in ME3.
Also, whether the council is saved or not will likely have a huge impact on how things go in ME3, not only in how things are run but how the universe as a whole thinks of humanity.
I have a tiny little hope that you'll get to meet a relative of the crewmate that died on Virmire as well (Ashley's sister, Kaidan's father), but I'm not counting on it.

Here are a few of ME1 choices I feel will have a profound effect on the main storyline in ME3:
1. Saving the original Council or letting them die
2. Who is chosen to join the Council (between Anderson and Udina)
3. Convincing or killing Wrex on Virmire
4. Saving or killing the Rachni Queen
I expect ME3 to take the same approach ME2 did with regards to prior choices. Most choices (whether they be from ME1 or ME2) will probably have minor effects on ME3 (such as side quests or cameos). Of course, this is all just speculation at this point.

I'd expect something to happen with the Rachni Queen provided you saved her in the first game.
I think some people have speculated that by the time ME3 happens whatever research that was going to happen to the remains of the one man's wife will bear fruit in the form of some sort of weapon.

Well, a while back when I was at a friend's house, we were discussing what might happen in ME3. After beating ME2 and noticing all of those Reapers (suddenly, Reapers! Thousands of them!), I came to the conclusion that there's just going to be one, gigantic, intergalactic war with the Reapers. The Rachni Queen was released in ME1 for me. In ME2, if you released her, some Asari is found on Illium and the Rachni queen had given her a message saying that she would gather her troops to aid Shepard or something like that. This and the fact that Wrex (this only applies if you didn't kill him) is willing to aid Shepard with the krogan under clan Urdnot. I don't know about you guys, but all of this points towards a war. And a big one at that. One that will involve the Citadel.
Oh, and the keepers. We can't forget the keepers. I think they're gonna play a major part in ME3. I think that the "Scan the Keepers" quest might have something to do with it. I'm going to scan all of them just in case, y'know?
