At 1600 x 900, with 16x AA, and all the relative options turned on, the visuals are still fairly "meh" compared to what I expected. Is this a common response, or am I missing something?

Why have you put 16x AA on? That'll drag your performance down to some ridiculous degree. You really don't need more than 4x.
And yes, the game is somewhat "meh" looking at full whack. It's not the prettiest game around, but I've seen far worse.

I get the same framerate with no AA and 16x. But thanks, I'll just make do, then. Makes me wish for FO3 or Oblivion user-made graphics mods, though.

That is... Well, impossible. Are you sure you have anti-aliasing applying at all? 16x AA at that resolution should drop you into relatively low numbers.Maiq the Liar wrote...

Aye, shocked me, too. I have it synced to 60, and with 16x, I only drop down as low as 57 during extremely large fights.
