Actually, I think one of the devs mentioned they were introduced after ME1, BEFORE he was spaced in ME2.

I could be wrong though. Still, it didn't make sense to us because we didn't know that.

As someone else mentioned, they were even on Jacob's loyalty mission along with security mechs that, if i remember right, according to the codex weren't introduced until after the attack on the Citadel to compensate for manpower shortages in C-Sec.

That's a case of gameplay before story, because it'd be odd if we suddenly had to switch technology for such a short mission.

So, yeah... no matter what excuse they use and story they come up with, the whole Thermal Clip thing is like a moth-eaten lace tablecloth and no amount of trying to patch it up is going to excuse the stupid mistake that thermal clips are.

Better than what we used to have, at least.

That's easily rectified, just take ammo drops out of the mission, that would have been far more interesting. You would have had to think about ammo conservation, use powers and not waste shots.

Pfft, people would complain regardless. Soldiers, mostly.

As far as OP goes - personally I loved the lack of inventory and thousands of useless items in ME2 as compared to ME1. More an annoyance than anything else in ME1.

Let me make this clear-

We KNOW. We know everyone disliked ME1's inventory system. No one is asking for that.

What we're asking for is a NEW inventory system, one that could've taken ME1's and improved on.

I disagree. But then, I prefer lore to gameplay when it comes to something like Mass Effect, and the lore of ME was completely crapped on with the Thermal Clips. That and I also feel the whole thing wouldn't have been such an issue at all if they'd simply made the weapons hybrids.

I think more was lost than was gained with the Thermal Clips, because I fail to see how they really improve combat that much at all (and find it ironic that people who complained about gathering items in ME1 --where said items were automatically added to your inventory for you-- are fine with running around to physically pick up magical respawning thermal clips.)

Story for me was much better in ME1.

Gameplay for me was much better in ME2.

Modifications to both were necessary. Add the two together and I think Bioware will have landed on the perfect formula.

What you should know is that ME2 is that IMPROVED system.

When You take all annoying stuff off from ME1, You have the base of what ME2 has now. When I say BASE, I mean base design is there, but it can also be improved.

No, this doesn't mean ME2 did it right, but it's on right track. ME2 just simplifyed too much stuff and while it fixed the ME1 inventory problems. It redused or/and removed alot of players customation possibilities. No, I don't mean items, because ME1 was illusion of variety. I mean some induvidualism got too general. Example You can't customize squad members armors or weapons in general. Meaning ME2 has too general customation, like improve damage of weapon, improves it for everyone. It's not really induvidual enough as customation.

The resources listing on the mission computer page plus your weapons and armor loadout, that's your inventory, strictly speaking. The problem being that you're very restricted in terms of what you can do with it, of course.

I'd also like to know. Choosing your weapons before missions and on the Normandy is not an inverntory system.

What you can do with it is the problem.

Hell, the fact that you can't sell any inventory for credits is a MAJOR FAIL.

That's because you are 100% BLIND. You want me to take screenshots from research window, weapon selections, Shepards armor customation?

Armor you can switch only on your ship or pre-mission≠Inventory.

Weapons you can switch only at terminals, pre-mission, or on your ship≠Inventory.

Research upgrades which only improve what your weapon already has, can't be sold, and can only be accessed on your ship≠Inventory.

Try again.

You can take screenshots of these things, but what have they to do with an inventory?

What is inventory?

It's list of choises (items) where player can choose.

Example change a weapon on hand. Modificate armor with "items".

Just because it's not in one familiar "RPG" LONG list, doesn't mean it doesn't provide same function.

If that's what constitutes an inventory system, ME2's is just as bad if not worse than ME1's.

That is how ever personal taste.

Yes, ME2 did not do it well, but is it better than ME1. Both of them has problems, but here is the different.

ME1 problems was JUNK items, what means items what had very little real use or items what become very fast useless. Also ME1 had little small inventory handling problems, but those could be fixed.

ME2 problem is there isn't enough customation and more important induvidual customation. Meaning ME2 removed or/and redused alot of customation options for players.

At the very least, you should be able to sell items.

You cannot sell items.

Yes, it is personal opinion(I should've made that clear).

ME2 doesn't feel like it has an inventory system because you aren't really picking anything up(no real loot), you can't sell anything, you can't really customize anything besides armor(upgrades damn sure don't count), and armor isn't even really part of inventory since you rarely get the chance to change it.

Good point. How ever, what you sell?

Items what you have no use anymore, so that you can buy items to what has use to you. Basicly JUNK items. You loot a lot of junk for sale. In ME2 this junk looting was removed and you get directly credits from loot, not junk items.

That's a good thing. No, I don't mean having tons of useless crud, but having things you don't need, thus switching for something BETTER.

It keeps the game fresh.
