Yes, I know. But this isn't ACTUALLY a toolsetting question.
My computer (a "budget gaming" desktop replacement) gives me graphics artifacts (occasionally-visible walkmesh helpers) when I play online on a fairly complex 16x16 exterior map.
Well....
That kind of map would have been a "don't even think about it" sort of affair, if performance was an issue, a couple years ago -- peoples' machines would have boiled and died. Including, I have to say, Ancient and Venerable Lappy #3.
What other changes do you see coming, as Moore's Law continues to operate in our favor?

Aside from making the areas even bigger and even more horridly complex, the other big jump should be in the number of NPC and other creatures you can cram into a single area, and the sophistication of the AI they use. Pathfinding is the big hurdle here, at least for me, and that seems to be hard-coded, but the eventual ability to throw hundred of mooks on-screen, instead of dozens, could really change the kinds of stories we can tell with NWN2.
