I get angry when I pay for two games that I can't play as advertised. I am supposed to be able to import characters from Mass Effect One into Mass Effect 2: Only it doesn't work. I have tried all the suggestions from other sources. EA esculated my problem to the next tier and it will probably be 6-weeks before I hear from them -- just like it had with a previous games that I had technical problems with. That too makes me angry.

So, get over yourselves. If you want to help fine, if you don't that's fine too.

Temper, temper. I'll try to help.

1. Locate your ME1 save directory.
Similar to this:
C:\\Documents and Settings\\Phoenix\\My Documents\\BioWare\\Mass Effect\\Save.

2. Locate files that start with "Char" (Easiest way to do this is to sort by name then search the "C" section.
Like this:
Char_01-60-3-1-5-30-1-2010-16-30.MassEffectSave

3. Open another window and navigate to ME2 save directory.
Like so:
C:\\\\Documents and Settings\\\\Phoenix\\\\My Documents\\\\BioWare\\\\Mass Effect 2\\\\Save

4. Create a folder here and name it ME1.

5. Now either drag-&-drop or copy-&-paste the "Char".MassEffectSave file to the ME1 folder.

6. Launch ME2 and select "New Game" then "Import ME1 Character".

7.There should now be a list of all the "Char" files from step 2. Select your desired one and  then select Import.

8. And wham-o your ME2 career starts.

I will try that thank you. Now, if I may ask do you really have to complete a game in ME 1 to import to ME 2? I know in Dragon Age Origins you can import a character into Awakening at any stage of the game in DA:O.
I have done it several times.

Yes you have to complete the game so you can import it into ME2

I think that's your problem you haven't completed the game yet so ME2 can't recognize your save files

I just figured it would be like Dragon Age Origins. You didn't have to finish a game to import to Awakening. Thanks.

I prefer Dragon Age Origins actually.   For one thing the character creater is much better. With it I can create a Victoria Secret model, as appose to a round faced cartoon. Much more pleasing to look at while you are playing. Secondly, you can import a character into Awakening without having finished the game in DA:O. If you are at level twenty, in DA:O, when you import all their stats move with them: So, you start in Awakening where you left off in DA:O. My understanding is with ME you only progess to Level two in ME2?!? Like starting a whole new game from scratch. And, I wonder if your stats --talents and experience-- in ME import with the character? However, playing ME, for me, is just "ok" and I am not all that fond of ME2! I dislike how you have to decript. If I can't crack it in five minutes, I am done. I recently spent 5 hours trying to decript a lock. That to me wasn't fun. But, who am I to say?
