Hey do you guys think that BioWare will eventually port the Mass Effect
series to the PS3? I just finished playing the first game on PC, but I
don't think my computer can handle the second one[smilie]../../../images/forum/emoticons/sad.png[/smilie].

No, I don't think so.

As for PCs, it's worth a try. The same XBox handles ME1 and ME2, after all. (Then again, I don't know your PC's specs - maybe it was just barely managing ME1.)

Yeah I was running Mass Effect on very low PC settings. Unfortunately I only have a PS3 and don't have the money to buy an Xbox 360 at the moment.

Hmmm why? Does Microsoft own rights to the game or something?

I understand it's an exclusive deal. Bioware have repeatedly stated that they have no plans for a PS3 version.

Man that's really unfortunate.... I LOVEDthe first Mass Effect. (BTW) I thought EA was a big fan of Sony's platform.

Apparently there may have been an exclusive deal between Bioware and Microsoft on the main trilogy.

I also don't see the point, the first game was released three years ago, porting it now would be a pretty big waste of time especially since they are working on Mass Effect 3.

There is some truth to be said about the games age, but a waste of time? I think not! I know plenty of PS3 owners who would eagerly buy BioWare's latest treasure. Besides the PS3 is selling like hotcakes at the moment (as is the 360).

Well why not buy an Xbox 360 to play it then?

Well I don't have the money to buy an Xbox 360 at the moment. Besides I would only use the 360 for Mass Effect. (and maybe Gears of War). I will admit that I am somewhat of a PlayStation fanboy.

I have both. Use PS3 for single player games/ FFXIII and 360 for multiplayer. PS3's multiplayer was too laggy for me, and there's not a lot of people on it. Save up for a 360. The new one $250 now. Not that bad of a price.

Mass Effect is an Xbox Exclusive. Dragon Age isn't.

Unfortunately, currently BioWare doesn't have any plans for porting any of the Mass Effect games to the PS3. To my knowledge, they're only developing Dragon Age for it.

There's a possibility that they will port it sometime in the future, but chances are fairly slim. You'll just have to be in the same boat as us PC-gamers that don't get to have Halo (2+), Gears of War (2+), or LBP. :(

Maybe a Mass Effect game that's after the trilogy, but the trilogy is exclusive to Xbox/PC.

For some reason, I thought the new Xbox 360 costed $300.

Mass Effect 1 will never come to the PS3. Microsoft holds distribution rights to the game, likely in perpetuity. It would take Sony fronting some serious cash before Microsoft would be willing to let ME1 go.

However, Mass Effect 2 was published by EA, so Microsoft may not have such a vice-like grip on it. It's possible that ME2 will come to the PS3, but it would be at a severe disadvantage to the 360 and PC versions, because you wouldn't be able to import a saved game from ME1. For that reason, it is highly unlikely that ME2 will be ported to the PS3 (And if it was possible and BioWare/EA intended to do it, shouldn't it have been announced by now?).

Chances of it being on the ps3 are slim.
