Will DA2 have downtime and not just be constant action?

It's a wonderful thing to have moments of contrast...

Cinema understands this; they deliberately build up their action events

A peaceful countryside transformed, after a significant period of appreciation, takes on more meaning to the player than an environment where the player is constantly bombarded with one action scene after another.

It would be wonderful if when roaming the forests and cities that the player has an opportunity to soak it all in in-between the meaty action elements. Thus can they be appreciated and given their proper weight.

In DAO you sometimes had endless mobs of darkspawn coming at you with no downtime - I barely noticed where I was or what I was doing (especially in the deep roads)

In many games you can roam the outdoors and see many harmless forest creatures, and in the cities just people going about their business. To put it simply I want to feel a part of the world. I do not wish Hawke to be the world. Is this a part of the design brief for dragon age 2, I sincerely hope so.

You had as much time as you needed in towns and such, you were only amidst constant combat in areas where you should have been...like the Deep Roads. The Deep Roads are where the Darkspawn constantly encroach upon the Dwarf cities, it makes sense to be in danger there.

Not really what I was talking about; I seem to have explained myself poorly. More wishing for the world to feel alive and have serene moments as well as defined action pieces

I'm pretty sure the writing and dev teams are well aware of pacing, both gamewise and storywise, and how to achieve it.

Yeah more gamewise is my concern; their recent dragon age not really hitting the right spot for me there; hopefully story is better paced too so that you can't get through all conversations from the beginning like you could for some characters.
