I played all six, and enjoyed the Dwarf Commoner and City Elf (female) origins the most. Dalish Elf was probably the worst, it was kind of uneventful and didn't seem to have anything to do with the rest of the game. Maybe if that enchanted mirror thing had come up somehow in the main plot to tie it in, it wouldn't seem so random.

Human noble is my first play through, and so far I am really enjoying the story.

human noble was my first aswell and i really enjoyed it but would have liked for it to go on a bit more.
id love a origins expansion pack to add more to what you can do before having to go off and carry on the rest of the game.

I've played every origin, and I really consider Dwarf Commoner to be the best. Close 2nd would be female City Elf.
Dalish Elf was by far the worst. You never care, and even later there's no reinforcement to care.

Dwarf noble followed by human noble! The intrigue of the Dwarf noble origin was great as you actually had choices to make which made you pause and consider the ramifications of your actions.

mage was the worst sooooo bland though jowan going beast mode was unexpected considering how much he whines and how annoying he was
as for the best city elf i thought was well done, human noble is good at the end but just chilling their while ur castle under attack having a convo was kind of like ok????

i thought the dwarf noble was the best. human noble and drawrf commoner are also pretty good. the worst is deffenitly dalish elf though imo, which was very very dissapointing because that was the race i was most looking forward too originally.

RE: Dalish Elf - while it is my least fave Origin, it is still a great character, and a fun Warden. I truly enjoyed getting this one to the conclusion, and taking Lilliana to her new home among my Clan.
As for City Elf, it started as my least fave Origin, but quickly changed once I began to get better at actual gameplay. And playing as a female also adds a lot to the motivation.

I played all the stories & loved them all other then the Dalish. On ever play I did I always killed the dalish, I thought they were crybaby asses. Only time I sided with them was when I played a female city elf.

My most favorite was the City Elf origin story (I've only played it as a female).
The others were pretty good too, I'm not sure which one is my least favorite but it might be a tie between the Dalish/Dwarven Commoner. I'm not saying those were bad, I'm just saying they were my least favorite.

City Elf's the best origin, hands down. Has the most original plot and fits in very well with the over-arching storyline.

1.) Human Noble: Strongest tied to the story with the best payoffs in the end. Its also one of the origins where I find its easy to play the evil route due to to the possible endings. It's easily the most cliched (Which is noted by Ser Gilmore) but nothing wrong with that as long as the payoff is good.
2.) Dwarf Noble: Just fun and its easy to play "evil" in this route without going through the standard "I am evil! *STABBITY* *WANGST*" that often plagues most RPG "evil" routes. I also enjoy the fact that unlike the other origins or most standard RPG plots, you are not simply a prodigy or some unknown younging that was found. You're a well established warrior and everyone knows it.
3.) City Elf: I'm a sucker for these type of stories. I haven't played the whole campaign on this yet, but I always thought in my mind that I was going to act like some Elven Huey Newton which is fun. I also like the fact that it has a good variation of what happens depending on your actions, instead of just a simple "All choices lead to one end" in the other stories.
4.) Dwarf Commoner: Similar to above though less interesting. It also has a great COMA for your future warden in it.
5.) Mage: Storywise, this might be the best. There are numerous concepts brought up that can easily pull you into the story. The politics in it I find fascinating. One problem though: Its too damn long. Three dungeons is too much (especially when one of them involved killing spiders for a stupid rod. Did I mention that I HATE SPIDERS?!).
6.) Dalish Elf: Maybe there is a payoff if you campaign as this but.. its just too short and boring. It seems like this was thrown together at the last minute and with little care. I also don't like the fact that you are FORCED to become a warden due to circumstances than actually earning it, like the others. I find this undermines your character a bit, but that is just me.

Human Noble by far. Dwarf might have been cool but I hate dwarves so...meh
Worst origin was the mage origin...very bland and you hardly had an impact on how things went. It would have been awesome if you could have decided to tell the templars about Jowen so that they executed him right on the spot - would have saved a lot of trouble eh. This origin was so deus ex machina driven that it was not enjoyable at all

Both Dwarven origins were hands-down the best, imo. I loved the lore, the cut-throat politics and snarky commentary by various NPC's.
The worst origins were Magi and Dalish. The Dalish origin was boring and had far too much of a quest-on-rails feel. The Magi origin had so much potential, but having to play a backstabbing idiot ruined the experience.

I only played human noble and mage origins. From those two, I think human noble origin is the better one.

I found the City Elf (as a female) the most involving, emotionally. Not even the Human Noble story gave me such a gut-wrentch.
But my vote still goes to Dwarven Noble. I like the way there are several ways of playing it, and it is so easy to be an arrogant anti-hero. The other stories kinda steer you towards being a good semi-heroic character than I find a bit bland. But I love a good fall from grace.
Did quite like the plot twist at the end of the mage's Harrowing in the Fade though. And I think the mage origin is the best introduction to the game since it explains how magic works, politically, socially and in practice.

I've played every Origin except the 2 Dwarf ones. Mage was my favourite, as it thrust you right away into the game, forcing you to learn on the spot. It really sets the tone almost right away of how mages are regarded in general. Human noble was pretty moving, though it seemed a bit cliche to me at times. Dalish Elf was ok, but was quite bland. I guess it would carry much more weight once you get to Witch Hunt. City Elf was just plain sad, the Elves were so downtrodden. What happened as well was rather shocking, showing you that bad stuff does happen in any world.

I prefer the human noble origin. The Dalish origin was a little slow, but culturally interesting, and really moving when you leave. The city elf and dwarven origins are strong, but so bleak, I can't say I enjoy playing them. And the dwarven ones have the added downside to me of dealing with dwarven politics, which I find very irritating, if very well done. I didn't care for the mage one, as for me, in playing a 'good' character, I couldn't even find a way to get out of the tower without the character being hopelessly compromised. Not really where I want to start the game. Hmm... Perhaps if I looked at the rest of the game as a redemption story....
