The Mage one was interesting, my least favorite was the Dalish Elf and Dwarf Commoner. Those two just kind of bored me.

1st: Human Noble: Typical and I like typical things and this origin makes Rendon Howe one of the antagonist of the game. More if you talk to him during the origin as he was your friend too (wishing him luck and all). And you can flirt with people xD. I think this origin is for good characters.
2nd: City Elf: I played like a male and I liekd it, I like the "Varsovia ghetto thing" and arl's sons are like the ****s. I think this origin is for both good or evil characters.
3rd: Mage: I liked Jowan and his story and the sense of prison that the tower makes. I think this origin is for good an evil characters but more for evil ones. "I'm a resentful mage that joined the grey wardens to escape problems".
4th: Duster: The criminal thing is very good but in the end it all happens too fast. I think this origin is for evil characters.
5th: Dalish: ... i found a mirror... my stupid friend screws it... and now i have to go... ok... And I hate dalish elves.
¿?th: Dwarf Noble: I haven't played it yet.

"Maric knew a Dalish once, never saw an equal with a bow ever or since." Loghain.
2. Everyone's favourite; Dwarf Noble. Its a very engaging origin story. The first time i play this i was actually bored and the idea of playing as a short and fat warden didnt really appeal too much to me at first. But man within the first minute or so i was hooked. It has great atmosphere, and lots of replay value. I played it fully aware about the plot twist at the end, yet I still enjoyed it. If you try to roll a female dwarf for a change (which can be very easily be made attractive) you get some very sweet dialog with Gorim. As a male i never bed the noble hunters, they re just so ugly, have some standards. My biggest complain with this origin is that the origin is so good I find it hard to immerse myself with the rest of the game as a grey warden. There wasnt really much of a follow up on the main story i find little motivation for my character to push forward.
3. Human noble. Arguably the most well integrated origin to the main story. On contrary to dwarf noble it gives you a lot of motivation to push the main story forward because human politic do concern you. And the only origin which lets you become a King or Queen consort by the end of the game. The origin story itself is pretty bland bad voice acting and very little replayability. If you can bear the first few minutes things do get interesting (for a first playthrough at least). I like it how when you just begining to feel for the characters(when everyone gather together as one big family) things turn 180 degrees.Fergus only popping by the end of the game strike me as rather akward too.
The rest is on par with each other imho. The origins story is generally pretty welldone and is one of the highlight of the game.

The Dalish Elven origin is good.
I always have those origins if I do not have a Dalish Elven Mage.
I always have Dalish Elves or Noble Dwarves.
The Mage origin drags on for ages. So boring and dragged out. It takes twice as long as the others.
You would have thought they would have made a Wilds Witch origin or something as a mage origin too.
I would have liked to have a Wilds Witch origin.
The Human Noble origin is meh. Dead. I only did it for the trophy then deleted it.
The worst ones are Elven Commoner and Dwarven Commoner. Freaking depressing.

Think about it they helped Andraste during her war againts Tevinter their leader was killed when Andraste's jealous husband betrayed her.
They were awarded a new homeland probably just because the humans didnt really want that land anyway (its rather inhospitable) and after many sacrifice (see codex; The Long Walk) and effort to rebuild it were sacked just because they are different.
Even if you spared the lives of the three human you encountered at the very start they will rally the village to drive your clan off anyway.
Your father were killed by humans just when he and your mother decided to ellope together. Your mother just died from the grief.
Zathrian got his kids captured. His son was tortured and the daughter was raped and left for dead in the forest when they re done with her. When she discovered she got pregnant she just commited suicide.
Man i understand why some people hate the Dalish. But i thought their story was quite well written. If you play as one the game encourage you be the bigger man/woman and help those who wronged your people anyway, which is a huge motivator for me when playing as a good character.
City elf is pretty interesting too personally i think it fits female character a lot better. Its worth playing thorugh just for this dialog.
Cailan: Do you come from one of the alianage? How are things in there?
Warden: I killed the arl son for trying to rape me and my friends.
Cailan: Whaaat?
Dwarf Commoner: Popular with some people i find it mildly enjoyable. The moment when you took off your helemt in the proving and reveal your branded face infront of everyone was priceless. It puts you in a role of a protective older brother/sister which is nice. And you can sympathize with Orzamar casteless. Although i find dwarf noble story to be better i find it more immersive to play as a commoner for the rest of the game.
Mage. Pretty interesting at first. Terrible voice acting ruins the atmosphere. Great story between mages and templars cheers to Bioware. Easily the most powerful character a warden can be.Beyond the origin story there isnt much of a follow up, Jowan though sympathizable has a very annoying voice. I find playing as a female more interesting because it makes Cullen's character more memorable ( a templar infatuated with a mage the very 'thing' he's trained to kill). If you romance Alistair well he's an ex templar (i dont know theres any unique dialog). Then again robes look a lot cooler and more varied on males so i always go male for my mage character.

what do you think i sthe best story?
I say
Best: Male City Elf and human noble coming a close 2nd
Worst: Dalish Elf--man it was bland and terrible
I KNOW dwarf noble is the best.
I think mage is 2nd
3rd city elf
4th dwarf casteless
5th human noble
I KNOW dalish elf is worst.
Note: This has nothing to do with the entire playthrough. Just the beginning part.

That was awesome. I'm RPing a semi-psychotic human-hating female elven 2H badass warrior. It was so the kind of thing she would say.
HN is great in terms of the overall plot, but you have to wait aaaaaaaaaaaages to get revenge on Howe. City Elf is a great self-contained story. Dalish is nice, but nothing much happens. Bit boring. Magi is utterly awful, I don't care for Jowan/Lily at all *yawn*. Haven't played either of dwarven ones yet but will get around to it soon.

My favorite is definitely the Mage origin as an Elf - it's just so tempting to play the ultimate underdog. The society in DA hates both, mages and elves, so it's like ... the mix they hate the most. And later on this being becomes their hero and savior. I kind of find this interesting, not to mention that I enjoyed the Origin Story itself a lot and how it can develop later on. Jowan was my favorite companion you can have in the Origin Story c:
I also really enjoyed the City Elf Origin ... but only as a male. As a female, it didn't have the same feeling of "awesome" to me. It really makes you see how much the elves really suffer under the humans ... not to mention that you get a nice gift when you return to Denerim .

The human noble and dwarf noble origins are close seconds. I don't care for any of the elf origins, though, as I dislike the whole victim mentality of blaming everyone else for your troubles (which is what the elves do to no end throughout the entire Dragon Age).

Human Noble Male/Female. Magi Male Elf/Female Human. City Elf Male. Dalish Elf Male/Female.
I still need to get around to the dwarf Noble/Commoner. I tried Noble, But got bored 75% through. Still need to do those, and a Female City Elf.
My least favorite is Magi, Just a terrible Origin in my opinion, All this running around talking to people and running back, is just annoying.

2. Human noble - It was a solid start to the game and as mentioned before it seems to be integrated into the rest of the storyline the best
3. Mage - Seeing the circle from the inside was quite interesting
4. City elf - It was ok.
5. Dwarf commoner - my least favourite. I felt it was rather short and extremely predictable and straightforward.
Haven't tried dalish origin yet.

2) Mage. I like the story, and the amount of information you can pick up early on. Also liked seeing Cullen before the events of broken circle, made his appearance more interesting.
3) Human noble. Betrayal, seducing elves, sacrifice, what's not to like?
4) Dwarf commoner. Good fun, but I thought the plot was a bit meh.
5) Dalish elf. I started it but was so bored and unattached to the character I couldn't bring myself to finish it.

2nd Dwarf Commoner see above
3rd Human Noble early access to dog plus more information about Howe
4th Magi Good but story dosen't grip me as much as the others
Don't play as elves so City and Dalish joint 5th for being my most hated fantasy race
(For being awesome Zevran is promoted to Honorary Dwarf)

I like all of the origins to some extent, except for the dwarf commoner which just never grabbed me in any way. The origins I have most replayed are human noble, city elf, and mage. But again, I think they all have a certain draw or charm
I agree they all had their part and you got a feel for where they came from.

2nd: Dwarven Noble
3rd: Magi Origin
4th: Dwarven Common and Elvish Common are similar to me.
Last: Dalish Elf

2nd was Human Noble, very anguish filled, explained a lot more about Howe and Loghain to me.
3rd would be Mage, it was fun to come back later and see Jowan and take revenge. Plus the comments about the mages are a lot like the elves, it was interesting to contrast.
4th was Dwarf Noble, it was pretty cool to see the Dwarven way of life, and although it would have been nice to try to get Bhelen blamed for Trian's murder, it was alright.
5th would be Dwarf commoner, it was cool, but not as cool as the city elf, and i couldn't help but make comparasions.
6th is Dalish Elf. Boring, boring boring. Talisan was kind of stupid too, kept trying to touch the mirror even if you told him not to.
