So I just recently purchased Baldru's Gate 2 SoA, and I was so excited. (Yes i've tried everything on the previous help site, and my system does meet all the requirements easily because I also have DA:O and it runs smoothly. Yes i've also tried compatibility mode because i'm running XP)

So the first time, I installed the game and it went through, and it asked for CD5 which I fixed my way around, but it had some error about a file sound.dll or something, I don't remember. ANYWAYS, so I went to play and the screen just stayed blcak, so I uninstalled completely, and tried to re-install, now, I don't know what is going on, but here is the error I get, and I can't even get to 2%.

Component : Required_Setup
File Group : hd0
File : C:\\Program Files\\Black Isle\\BGII - SoA\\Update.url
Error : Access is Denied

Now, i'm not computer illiterate, I actually go to school for computers. ITT :D
So I went to the file it was talking about, and I have all privledges to it, though I don't know why I wouldn't aside from copywright and everything like that, but I have rights to it, can re-name, throw away, modify, but I still don't have "access" to it when installing the game.

So i think the CD is corrupt, or a bad CD because I got it off of eBay,
i've tried to contact the seller, but he hasn't responded, and it's been about a week, so I got fed up and came here.

I need help desperately, I want to play so bad, please, if anyone can help me, or give me an official e-mail, or help line, i would very much appreciate it.

Please feel free to e-mail me at : xtubulartedx@aol.com
Or respond here, trust me, i'll be checking back frequently :D

I hope you didnt pay too much for it, you can generally find it in packs for less than AU $20 with the first game.

Not that I'm an expert but try renaming your current folder by adding a 1 or something to it and try to install it again?

To me at least it sounds like it's trying to put a file in a spot that already has a file...

Okay, I got past that error, erased everything I could trace back to the BG2, so now, I get all the way to the end, like 99-100% it says, but then it starts asking me, insert disc 2, 3, 4, then it asks me to insert disc 5, now, i've done absolutely everything out there that i've seen when coming to this error, everything up to date, everything in compatibility mode. What do I do, i've tried all 3 types of install, Full, Recommended, and Single Player.

Help?

You can try copying the contents of the discs onto your hard drive and running the installer from there.

Ended up getting it to work, I manually went through and deleted everything I could find BG2 related.

Then it asked for disc 1 again, after disc 4, so anyone who get's that problem just do that and it should work.

Also, for the update.url fix or whatever, it is because of a bad download that I did, and it didn't erase when i went to re-install, so to fix it just go find it in your BG2 Folder in your hard drive and erase it, if it says it's locked or it won't erase because it's in use or whatever, google "Unlocker" it will work for you.

Also, i'd highly recommend downloading it into a separate folder, instead of C:\\Program Files i'd download it into C:\\ BG2 or something, it causes less errors.
