Elements from DA:O that hopefully won't be in DA II

I hope the 'map travel' system gets replaced.
Don't like your chances on this one, the DA:O system is very useful for Bioware, in that it becomes super-easy to add extra locations through DLC. Any unused spot on the map can be filled in by additional content later, with no jarring inconsistencies ("that cavern wasn't there last time we walked past!")
It's a long time since I played Fallout 1 and 2, but as I recall it their map travel seemed pretty similar - a large area map, with only the major points of interest and a few generic random encounter settings as actual playable locations.
Or did you mean that you didn't have to stick to set roads when travelling on the Fallout maps? If so, unless I'm forgetting something, what's the difference? Only certain areas are actually playable.

-Fade
The Fade is awesome. It was just implemented poorly into origins.
The Fade is awesome, and I enjoyed even it's Origins implementation. Really my only criticism -- less brown! Less brown everywhere, but especially less blurry Fade brown.
One other thing I'd really rather not see: pink clouds as the visible effect of Bard songs. What I would love would be if Bard songs were actually songs -- short looping audio tracks that would exist in a male and a female version.

Mud is brown. I loved that the whole world was brown, because it made sense in the setting.distinguetraces wrote...

That said, there was no reason for the Fade to be brown. The fade is the land of dreams; does everyone on Thedas have dreams so depressing?

The second is combat was so stiff. Two guys would just go through the same 2 slashing animations. They needed to be having a proper swordfight. Abilities seemed to come from nowhere as it where, they need to flor fluidly from your previous strike.

It needs at least to be an option. What if your Warden was the sort of guy who doesn't talk much?Thomas9321 wrote...
My chief gripe's with Origin's was firstly that the Warden didn't speak much. Arl Eamon say would have a wall of text then you'd respond with one line, that needs to go.

Another thing I'd like to see in terms of skills/abilities is some synergy between the different sub disciplines. Perhaps for example a warrior wielding a big 2hander can utilize flurry (dual wield tree), but obviously flurry will not be 'optimized' for a big 2hander, maybe there'd be other costs associated with using an out-of-order skill.

Then you'd need to balance them by taking away all those great crowd-control abilities.Arijharn wrote...
Weak 2handed weapons is an 'element' I absolutely don't want to see in DA2. Maybe my experiences are clouded somewhat by WoW (and other RPG's) but while I expect a big 2handed weapon to swing slower than someone unleashing a flurry of hits I would expect that when it does, it hits for nigh colossal (acceptable) damage.

Alistair is in fill armor and covered in blood. I walk to the Guardian to get the Ashes and need to disrobe. We are all naked ... and Alisair is covered in blood.
Errr ...
What did he do, feel odd without all the gore and run out into the rall to roll around in the blood?? Really broke the immersion there as blood doesn't soak through armor!

Allow people to level/select skills in party camp. I hate traveling and running into a random encounter where I don't have time to sort skills and points.
You can level anyone in camp, don't think you can use skills though.

The thing about transitions while stealthed needs to be fixed. If I'm sneaking my way through an area with my rogue it means I am trying to avoid combat, not be forced into it; I am *using my skills* in a way that doesn't directly involve attacking people. It got to the point where I'd just use the "kill hostiles" command to clear an area of creatures so I could use the door while sneaking.
Apologies for mentioning it *again*.... but Vampire The Masquerade: Bloodlines did this rather well. You got experience points for completing tasks in different ways, whether you killed anything or not. I think we should get rewarded for using our heads, Rogues go Stealth Mode, Warriors go... Arnie... and Mages do their thing that's not stealth or Arnie.
Hmm, shows how much impact VTMB had on me, i seem to compare everything with it. (even knowing the game was far from perfect, i doubt I have ever appreciated another game the same way).
Edit: I would like to see more variety of fighting styles e.g., duelist using a single blade. Unarmed combat would be awesome for the ninj... sorry rogue.

I want to be able to turn enemies into achicken, then kick/stomp it, or atleast chain their souls to chicken, my mage would be known then as the "Doom Chickeneer"

If I were only allowed to change one thing about and of the DA OC's, it would be to change the obnoxious and somewhat startling howl Leliana lets out into a pleasant and amuzing whistle.
Moderators, I thank you for your time and willingness to slog through all of these posts.

It would also be fun if, as in some of the origin stories, we had an option to take down the enemy by disguising ourselves. For example, in the city elf origin when you have the option to poison the guards or when wearing Howe guard armor. Let's not enter a city looking like we're ready for a fight.

- Butt-ugly rogue/mage gear (even Baldur's Gate games have better armors and those games were freaking 2D for the most parts)
- Constant childish joking, this game is rated mature, no?
- Stealth. Honestly I'd rather see this mechanic removed from games alltogether. We're living the 2010, I've seen the excact same stealth mechanic for at least 15 years now. It needs to go. Temporary "oh ****!" cloak maybe and shadowsteps but no insta-invisibility. Especially if it's virtually useless in a game that has endless waves of enemies.
