With all the DLC that's come out since I beat ME2 I decided to replay the end of ME1 (to change my romance) and go straight into ME2, however I've been hit by the Disc Unreadable problem. I played the game from day of release without issue straight through and haven't touched the discs since. The only DLC I had downloaded was the stuff that comes from Cerberus when game was first released and non of the other stuff. I tried Disc 1 first and it came back asking me to play it as a DVD so I stuck Disc 2 and launched the game. Went to start a new game and it asked for Disc 1. As you may have guessed it didn't work. Any ideas?

I assume you've checked the disc for dirt and scratches. The only advice I have is to delete and download your dlc again in case some data has been corrupted. If that doesn't work clear the cache on your console. (Clearing the cache of your console will delete all updates for all games, so that might be something to keep in mind If you're not constantly connected to the Internet.)

Unfortunately I have deleted the DLC and cleared my cache. However when I put the disc into my 360 I can't even launch the game. The console simply doesn't realise a disc is in there. I tried the tapping above the drive method and got it to realise there's a DVD in there, but it thinks it's a movie DVD. No other game is affected at the moment. I only used the disc twice as I've played through the game once.

do you have a friend with a copy? if so borrow theirs, install the disc to hard drive then put yours in and select the game from the hard drive. not sure it will work but worth a shot.

If the boot sector on the DVD is readable, then copying the game to the hard drive should work. The game only performs a disc check and then runs the game from the hard drive. As long as the disc can be read at all, the game should work. However if the disc is completely unreadable, you might have to send it in for a replacement. Most companies offer a disc replacement (for a fee) if the original is exchanged. I don't know EA's policy on this, but other companies do offer this as an option.
