In the Awakening, the fade still looks bizarre and uninspiring. It is basically a location that saps enthusiasm for the game.

When I entered Mankar Camoran's paradise in Oblivion I wanted to explore every nook and cranny of the place

Granted that the Fade in DAO is not the same concept, but still if an environment has the effect of wearing the player out, that environment has failed

I totaly agree with you!  I loved Mankar Camorans paradise, and the shivering Isles!

In DA2 i hope they Revamp the Fade and make it really crazy, like Shivering Isles, or really Beautiful. They would be able to do this because it is a dream world, what if they went into a mad mans dreams.

There is only one way to fix the Fade, and that is cheating.

I like the fade, and the music fits it too, I don't get all these complains, maybe it could be a bit even more absurd and twisted but nothing more

I felt it was as intended, dreamlike and discomforting as it wasn't your characters natural environment, especially so for warriors & rogues.

This... How come people don't understand this? Everyone just want it to be easy/simple. The Fade is suppose to be discomforting and i like the fact that the game extends it to the player.

One thing i don't like is the Deep Roads... How come its so bright in the deep roads? Its suppose to be dark, at least dim lighted because of the lava!

i actually have no idea why everybody says the fade was such a bad thing.... a little puzzling usually isn't of such a big damage, and after all you could solve the fade pretty fast....

Sorry, but that's nonsense. The only discomfort we're feeling when we play through the fade is annoyance and boredom. You can't make that OK by saying "it's SUPPOSED to make you feel like that!" Why would I want to play a game that annoys or bores me? People in this thread have given plenty of ways to make the Fade work and nearly all of them involve EMPHASIZING an otherworldly aspect. So no, we're not asking that they make the Fade more bearable for our characters- we're asking that they make it more bearable for us.

labyrinths and puzzles and such exist mostly to annoy the player, if they do then it is MISSIOON ACCOMPLISHED time =]

Exactly. And if they did NOT, you would rather be off playing Diablo with more Dialogue and non-linearilty.

Some puzzles is just too hard/stupid, and if they take longer than two hours to break, then it's YouTube

Who thinks the Fade puzzle was too hard? It was super simple.

I have no problem with the Fade, the first time I did it I found it challenging at times and quite repetive but other than that I don't mind it.

t's not the puzzles. Shiiiiiiiiit, it was the fact that the place looked and felt dull as a plastic spork in a middle school cafeteria compared to the 2 maps in the Brecilian Forest. It's supposed to be a bizarre, twisted, and constantly changing dream world for Maker'sake. After the first playthrough the Fade is a cake walk and even the first heavily relies on common sense. The whole "it's supposed to be like that" is an excuse. "If the puzzles were too hard don't play" is just another way of sidetracking the real issue with the Fade.... it's f-ing boring and needs to be fixed. Key word being fixed Bdubb, don't pull a Mako on the Fade and pretend it never existed. Use to controversial new art direction to your benefit and fix the Fade.

Very well put. The "It was supposed to be that way" excuse is pure hogwash  and getting old...

Infact I would venture to say that the Fade we ended up with was not what David Gaider had in mind when he was conceiving the world

Yeah, I totally agree. The Fade section failed, if anything, because it wasn't fantastical enough. A place where anything you can conceive can become reality should not be so bland. I would prefer less combat sections, and far more atmospheric mindf*ck sections here.

Maybe they need to take a cue from Arkham Asylum here. Visually speaking, the drug-induced sections with Scarecrow were definitely a mindf*ck.
