VO makes the toolset for Dragon Age 2 very unlikely.

Why?

Because it helps him complain, that's why.

Not buying the game if there's not a tool set. The tool set is the only reason I did more than 1 play through.

nah it wont be released because... domdomdomdom... They would need to spend more time working on the toolset itself (less loading / faster compiling / releasing all everything directly (water / scaling / shadows) / Fixing some of the dumb things for example: Object list, multiselecting and moving them. etc etc.. The one from DAO was a huge failure in most peoples eyes. Its never going to be any real active modding community for the first one. Well nothing big anyway.

And this is why you have to kill trolls with acid or fire.
They confuse people and give false info.

WRONG - This way they can make more money selling us armors like Mass Effect 2. You want more than that default armor you've seen Hawke rocking? That'll be $2. Thank you.

There are people that buy that? But no... They did try it. It failed because they put to little time into it. This time they probably wont bother (because of the time they need to spend).

I assume its still working, because they have another "weapon" pack coming out around the time of the liara dlc. I don't buy them, lol no, but the amount of effort put into them is so small, that they are no doubt making money on them.

Im gonna go ahead and throw this out there, that I think its good news for DAO toolset community. I hope that if there is no toolset for DA2 that the toolset for DAO will still be supported by the community and even bioware. That way there can be one toolset for the series.

But why DA2 couldn't had his toolset if the engine is the same for DA:O?

Because it takes time and money to convert the development tools or create an entire new program for public use as well as supporting it and the community. It's a business decision, will the amount of sales generated by giving a toolset offset the cost of developing and supporting it, in Dragon Age's case probrably not given how small the community turned out to be. We'll see, but like I've said before don't get your hopes up on it.

Small? You really don't know much about game development, do you?

If nothing else, the possible lack of a toolset is terrible for DA2, given how much missing content and bugged content was able to be fixed in Origins because of the toolset...

Has anybody considered that...

...you might be able to Mod DA2 files in the DA:O Toolset?

Yes, it's an upgraded engine, different games with some changes from DA:O etc. but the bare bones are still the same in as far as we know. The structure of save files or custom items can't change that radically, and they'll likely still be the exact same file types. So I'd be willing to bet money that the DA:O Toolset will be able to mod at least some of the content in 'DA2'.

It's not that simple, there's reasons why Bethesda had to release a completely new Toolset for Fallout 3 even though it was developed using the exact same engine as Oblivion.

BioWare is going to ****** off a lot of PC gamers if there isn't a toolset.

*sighs* well, I'm assuming that since this is page two and we're not getting a comment from a dev comforting us and giving us candy there's not going to be one. But it won't be too bad as long as my character can still be customized well (always wondered why they added so few options for the character creator but so many in the toolset. It can't simply be issues with setup, can it?)

So far Bioware has only mentioned changing the lighting engine; so I'm guessing we might not see any Improved Atmosphere mods for DA2?

Why would you assume that because a developer doesn't comment that that means there is no toolset?  That isn't how things work at all.  Right now they aren't confirming very much at all.

They do normally at least pop in for things that aren't rants, I didn't mean anything by it. Maybe we will get a toolset. Also, I'm in a cynical mood and posting on forums. Of course, they've better things to do then wait for a topic to pop up so they can correct it. Just ignore me. :P
