Personally, I think Bioware are on to something by adding some elements of Mass Effect.

For starters - Hawke. Basically an old age Commander Shepard. Strong, Leader and Pre-determined last name. I like this idea, mainly because I enjoyed Mass Effect, particularly because he was an imprint of yourself. All the decisions that werre made were yours and you dealt with the consequences. Good.

The dialogue wheel. Not exactly like Mass Effect's wheel... but it was the same concept. This enables you to have extra room for the 'Investigate' feature to help you understand the situation you're in, thus making a better decision than you would have first time. I like the idea, but I like Mass Effect, other people might have played DA:O to avoid Mass Effect and may be unhappy at the change.

Cameos and Decisions. In Mass Effect 2, the decisions you made in Mass Effect were shown by cameos by people related to the particular incident and this seems like it will happen in DA2 to tie up loose ends, after all it does span 10 years, it can't just ignore all of the decisions you made. I think it will be good to know.

Overall, I think that this approach will result in a seriously awesome game that will even make the nay-sayers buy it. Remember though, all this is my own opinion and I'm buying the game regardless of what happens. :P

I disagree as well. mass effect 2 is a completely different game and imo, not as good as DA:O.

If they must merge them, then it should go the other way with more DA:O stuff going in to mass effect 3.

It would be interesting then to see all the ME fans in uproar.

It's good to some and bad to some. It's really all a matter of opinion. Luckily I loved both DA:O and Mass Effect... so I don't care which way the game leans.

I'm glad you're optimistic, but your first point seems a little off to me. I've been getting the impression (from developers' posts) that Hawke is different from Shepherd in that he is much less predefined. I think that calling Hawke an "old age Commander Shepherd" is a bit misleading because we (as far as I know) have more freedom than Hawke. Granted, we don't have a lot to go on.

Other than that, I agree with your points.

Uhm what is the thing about investigate anyways? You guys are aware that you could investigate in DAO also - it's called asking questions. "Investigate --> darkspawn" or "so what's the deal with these darkspawn?"... same thing.

Otherwise, sure.

Yeah, I just think it's better organized now.  They can have five of each type so you have more things to do (maximum) per conversation.  Plus, you don't have to keep spamming "I'd like to ask you a question" because it's on a sepearate part of the wheel.  It just seems more user-friendly to me.

ME 1&2 were the best games I ever played. So the more ME influences, the better.

Shepard was a lot more predetermined than the Warden in Origins. For one he was a human and for two he was a soldier with the Alliance. Those weren't things you could change and therefore how the world perceived you was already determined at the start.

By comparison, the Warden was threated differently depending on which origin you picked up or even based on his class (mage in this case). The wolrd reacted differently based on your background and this was evident throughout the game to larger or smaller extent. This is what made playing with, say, City Elf different to playing with a Human Noble.

This isn't something you'll experience in DA2. Whatever you do you'll always be a human refugee called Hawke. Your race and class might seem like a big deal the first time you play, but afterwards they won't matter. The only thing that will make each game different are your choices. ME2 had this and as a result it's replayability value was much lower than that of DA:O.

Dialogue wheel is the least of our problems. It's nothing but the delivery method for dialogue, one that imo is better than DA:O's 6 sentece system. It's only flaw is that the dialogue doesn't really allow you to understand what your character is going to say. This means you're forced to pick an answer, hope it plays out the way you want and, if not, reload and try again. While DA:O wasn't perfect in that regard (you could read the entire sentence but still couldn't always recognize how the Warden is going to deliver it. He might try to be sarcastic (something you can't always recognize by reading text) or be serious. You weren't always 100% sure how it'll play out but it was still easier to guess than in ME2.

The other reason why some people hate ME dialogue system is because it was inferior to DA:O in term of quality of dialogue. This, however, is the problem of the writing team itself. DA2 is written by the same team that did Origins so this shouldn't be the problem.

It was confirmed that our choices from DA:O will be recognized in DA2. Nothing more, nothing less.
Saying that "lose ends will be tied up or that we'll see some cameos" is pure speculation on your part. While I can only guess which "particular incident" from DA:O you're reffering to, I don't believe it will be tied up in DA2, but rather in a later DA title.  Right now we can only speculate since Bioware isn't telling one way or the other.
