In regards to the OP, as long as they remedy the animations in ME3 i'll be happy. I don't really care if they do or do not attempt to "fix" them in ME2. I highly doubt they would even bother anyway. It seems they did get lazy, though. Having generic anims for both male and female sheps... they may have had their reasons.

Being exposed to vacuum doesn't change the way you walk. Lower artificial gravity might, but that's another story,

Thing is, the walking animation made more sense at the beginning of the game.

After that sequence though, it should've been ditched for a standard walk animation like ME1's, of course with a different walk depending on gender.

No, it was mostly in jest, don't get me wrong. I'm just saying sarcasm requires irony, and there was nothing ironic in my post. I really thought you were being a bit stiff - cleary i missed the "light heartedness" of your post, though.

For the last time, the walk has nothing to do with being dead. HE WALKS FINE IN CUTSCENES, BUT WALKS GIMPED OUTSIDE OF THEM.

That's one of the things that annoyed me about Mass Effect 2, they already had a fine set of animations for both Male and Female Shep from ME1, and yet they go and make a new animation that while looking somewhat Ok on male Shep looks horrendous when used on the female model.

Why not for the next patch have Fem shepard use one of the Female Animation sets used by say Samara or Miranda?

to me shep(both male and female) seemed to walk like they had a limp... coupled with the arm idle animations.... is Shepard in a lot of pain or something?

But yeah the walk animation was a bit meh

Don't forget the head tilt thing which also existed in ME1, although back then it wasn't as bad.

That's what I'm saying. :)
Either we figure out how to replace the animations ourselves or Bioware could do that for us if it's too expensive or difficult to make new ones.
I wouldn't be against the limp if it was explained and heals over gameplay or you get an operation and fix it. But it wasn't explained and Shepard doesn't limp in cutscenes, so it's clear sloppiness.

The thing that gets me is that there are already both Male and Female specific character animations in the game so why not just use them for Shepard, Correct me if I'm wrong but all Bioware would need to do is write a program (i.e. Patch) that tells the game to use a different character animation set.

Both games use same engine, I'm thinking that it is something they forgot to put in.

3 reasons why they don't patch it:

1: They don't care
2: They think it might mess up some of the cut scenes.
3: The verification process for console's is long

"Xbox 360 and PS3 patches are currently in certification and we will announce a release date once they have passed."

It's probably an combination of 1 and 3 :crying:

I don't think this is something that can just be patched. If they're going to fix it, then it's in ME3. Posted ImagePosted Image

If you want to run around - run. Or hell, why run? Ask Bioware for teleport, I bet they will make it happen. They take out crouch, then walk, then run. Seems like a logical pattern to me. :P

I want to walk in some missions. Especially in Kasumi's loyalty mission and Normandy.

I wish they had just used the animations from ME1; those were exceptional.

Seriously... ME2 animation might look more or less ok with all the armor and weaponry - but, say, during Kasumi's LM... >_<

Oh god, tell me about it. In that black dress, Femshep walks and runs like a tranvestite made out of coat hangars.

actually I think the big problem with Miranda and Samara's animations would be that they're wearing heels (don't get me started on how much I hate that they wear heels 24/7 even in combat ugh) a character without heels walking like they were wearing them would be weird

What about Jack? female, walks, wears boots like Shep

Kasumi's shoes are flat right? Her animation might work too

If they decided they were going to replace them in a patch, I'd vote for bringing back the ME1 animations, making brand new ones, or switching them with the animations of someone else who makes sense.

I wonder if you might find a "walking straight" upgrade research in the Lair of the Shadow Borker
