Hello folks, ME 1 works fine on my desktop but I've got problems with notebook. First it didn't let me play even with original DVD - Incorrect DVD message. And then GPF error started popping out. I am really desperate. Any ideas?

Because of how the copy protection works you don't need to have the disc in your PC to run the game so I don't understand what that disc error is doing there. GPF can be linked to severale problems, like video hardware and drivers. Post your notebook specs (CPU, GPU, RAM, etc.) with driver versions. Technically your notebook, simply for the fact that it's a notebook, doesn't meet the system requirements.

GPF says couldn't find filename C:\\Program Files\\Mass Effect\\Binaries\\MassEffect.exe

It's Sony Vaio CS - specs: Intel Core 2 Duo P8400 (2,26 GHz), 3 GB RAM, nVidia GeForce 9300M GS

The 9300M GS is far below the system requirements. It's even slower than my old 8500 GT and all I got was 20 frames per second at 1024x768. Still, even if you are below the requirements the game should at least run even if the framerates would be unplayable. Even if the error suggests otherwise I still think it could be a driver problem so make sure those are updated. Also try reinstalling the game if you haven't already.

If you can't get the game to run then don't bother spending too much time trying to fix it because the framerates will probably be too low for you to enjoy yourself.

Probably because its a laptop, maybe the game supports for example the 8800 GT but not 8800 GT Mobile, usually happens with laptops and notebooks...

As far as I know the game has no problem with laptops as long as the video hardware is at least decent. The 9300M GS is perfect for office applications, DVD and online videos but it wasn't designed to run video games.
