From all the stuff that i read around it seems that the combat is now hackn'slash crap, just like 95% of the rest of the rpgs out there.
Why? why change this? i don't get it, we don't need another Mass Effect. what's wrong with being a bit unique or more tctically challeging in terms of combat?
Bioware may never admit it, but they have lost it. all they talk about in interviews is how they want to make their games more accessible and streamlined. which is ok, but now it's comming on the expense of what Dragon Age was all about, TACTICAL RPG.
the game is an "action rpg" now... sigh

Get it on pc if you do not want hack and slash.

Actually, from what I've read, it sounds like it will basically be the same, just more fluid and faster.
I'm not going to worry about it, personally.

The console versions of Dragon Age were essentially the same, minus the max camera distance. the menu was different, but it was the same game.
All the previews of Dragon Age 2 i see say the same. basically, it's a hack'n'slash game. if they want accessibility for casual games, that's all good. but by totally changing what the game is all about (tactical rpg) you're losing those who dag the game for what it is

Unfortunately we really don't know what changes have struck the PC version yet, all we know is it will be "similar" to Origins. It is a bit interesting and disheartening though that a games whose predecessor was designed solely for the PC and spent 90% of it's development life as a PC exclusive get's it's first introduction to the world on the 360, not sure whether to that that as a good or bad sign.

the combat doesn't sound any different than Dragon Age origins on the console

I thought gamespot said it was still the same, but the wait time for specific actions were cut down.

The problem is Gamespot is the only one saying that, the other previews and HTTP who saw the demo in person have said it's quite different.

So far previews suggest that combat remained the same. Tactical pause, radial menu. But it appears that animation is less clunky.

the story and layout was the same sure...controls..difficulty..menu's...everything else was different...the console version of DA:O was dumbed down to cater to the limitations of the control scheme et al.
if what is said is true, about the combat being different on both, then yes it's further apart then DA:O was..but regardless..DA:O was anything but the same thing on console vs pc

Yes, i saw it, i've been digging around for different previews in the last few hours. unfortunatly, gamespot isn't really the best source out there, they've gone a bit downhill in the last two years.
And anyway, basically everyone else say the same. the combat is much more hacknslash. you can still pause. but in the end, you controll your hero just like you controll a console hack'n'slash game.

Money and the hordes of console clickers(not all console gamers of course, but you know who I am talking about) that EA exacs probably hope will buy this game. You know-the stock price has to rise, more consumers need to be found. Normal RPG game is too niche for mass consumer market.garrgar wrote...
