Okay, by my understanding, the MSH file is split into chunks.

What I'm trying to do is create several versions of this model in order to give the effect of it being gradually destroyed, by altering the MMH file to remove one or more of the rocks (chunks). I'm aware that it has an animated destroyed state, however this is unsuitable for my purposes. A static model + VFX + scripting is what I need from it.

The problem is, the original model is much too large. What I'm looking for is a version scaled with a factor of 0.6, which retains the different chunks.

I tried using DATool to rescale it, and it worked - but also created another problem: the rescaled version cuts away some of the rocks when you move the camera in certain ways. Pretty much the way you'd expect trees to be handled. This does not happen with the original MSH.

Anyone got any ideas on how to solve this? Still no source code for DATool so I don't know what it's actually doing that might cause this...

Ah, excellent!

Can't thank you enough. No need to scale the animation, this is all I needed.

I don't have 3dsmax or gmax - can the linked project scale models without? For future reference, I mean. Obviously if you scaled it with that, then it's definitely doing something better than DATool.

No you need either gmax or 3dsmax. Gmax is free its great for this stuff
