Aakduce, a fan of Greywardens.com (and Dragon Age, of course), was lucky enough to hang out at the San Diego Comic Con the other day. Even better — he had the chance to hang out with BioWare’s Evil Chris Priestly and Mike Laidlaw. Evil Chris, as you may know, is the social voice of all things BioWare, and by extension, Dragon Age; and Mike Laidlaw is the lead designer behind the epic-ness that is the story of Dragon Age 2. Check out Aakduce’s thoughts on the Dragon Age 2 preview — and some of the answers he received when questioning the dynamic duo — below.

I believe it sounds like DA3 will be about the god baby.

I have never seen 300 so a "300 feel" means almost nothing to me.

Think Dynasty Warriors but with a stylistic comic book feel to it

The most interesting thing for me was this: In my chat with Chris Priestly, he told me that BioWare is going to keep making downloadable content for Dragon Age: Origins, and that they are planning to keep the DA:O franchise going for as long as they can

Could this mean, assuming there is a demand for it, continued Origins DLC post DA2's release?

To me it's severing limbs in slow motion and shoving elephants from a cliff.

So far, no shoving and no elephants, but severing limbs in slo-mo is pretty much confirmed.

That does sound possible, but after ME2 was out I don't think BioWare kept making dlc for ME, so we'll have to wait and see.

Ok. That's more relatable to me since I play tons of Dynasty Warrior games.

Yeah, I can't say I'm happy about that. The thing I liked about ME2 was that ANY enemy could potentially kill you. It sounds as if the lower enemies' are set to be cannon fodder, but I'll wait to play the game on Nightmare before I shoot it down

I totally understand. I play them because they are a good time waster but not because they are the shining jewels in gaming history. I'm not sure where I stand on the whole change but I guess once I see it in motion I can judge.:pinched:

I also had the chance to play a new DLC that is coming out soon. I didn’t get the name, but it was one of the hardest dungeons I have ever played, even on easy — at least in the pre-build that I was playing, anyway. In my chat with Chris Priestly, he told me that BioWare is going to keep making downloadable content for Dragon Age: Origins, and that they are planning to keep the DA:O franchise going for as long as they can — so the changes in Dragon Age 2 aren’t necessarily the end for more traditional roleplayers. There is also likely to be a third full Dragon Age game — and Chris told me that they are not yet done with Morrigan’s story.

The new DLC sounds like a good challenge for my buffed-up Warden. This news about continued support for DA:O via DLC is encouraging. Thanks for the link.

Sounds cool. I only wish I knew what Hawke actually sounded like.

I remember hearing from someone who heard him speak that he has an english accent, and his voice goes well with his appearance.

I'm really, really, really not looking forward to this DLC. I'm not interested in combat, I'm interested in story. Anyone can whip up a dungeon in their toolset...well, almost anyone. It's nothing special, and I really don't want to pay for it. So I won't, problem solved.

Just wish we'd get a story-driven DLC about the Warden during the Blight.

In any case, I didn't really find out anything new, but I was pleased to read the article. I didn't necessarily take the god baby statement to mean that's the only time we'll find out about it, but rather anything concerning it in a big way will wait until then. After all, its not your story if your whole job is to find/kill god babies.

“When I got in, Mike was giving a speech about how they were ‘keeping what worked well’ in Dragon Age: Origins — and scrapping the rest"

Ahh, chainsaw instead a scalpel again, eh?

Every DLC so far with the exception of Song and Chronicles is this.

It's more 300 paced? Sweet can't wait to kick people in pits yelling "This is FREE MARSHES!!!"

It really bugs me that people are saying the console combat sounds too fast. I have never played console, but from everything I have heard, it always was like that.

And Feast Day Pranks/Gifts.

And Awakening--"during the Blight", I said. Awakening was good, but it felt oddly stand-alone. Also was $40 and not a DLC. :P

Most of us got the Stone Prisoner for free, some of us got Warden's Keep. Both of them aren't my perfect idea of DLC since they came out with the game.

So far only Return to Ostagar has been actually available after the release. Leliana's Song, Darkspawn Chronicles, and now this all don't concern the Warden and his/her story.

Not that I think this is the end of the world, don't get me wrong--but still, I'd rather have story-driven DLC.

ALERT! Kordaris has posted in this thread! It will now become dull, repetitive and uninteresting!

Well, now that that's out of the way, I can't wait to see how things will flesh out now that they've got all this time. The guys have said all the crazy combat and easy-killing is just because of this particular part of the game, but we'll see. It'd be too glaring a mistake for them to leave in if the whole game is like that.
