Amid the many "gather 10 apples" and "bring a message from X to Y" quests there are always a few that are a bit more special. I'm hoping DA2 has:

A murder solving quest - I always like those, I like the gathering of clues and talking to suspects but I would like the quest to be a bit more difficult. Usually you can't go wrong you just have to talk to everyone and find all the clues, I would like the clues to be a bit more ambivalent so you're not sure you're pointing to the right person until the quest is done.

A quest with disguises - Usually your PC is stuck in the same outfit for a looooooong time, until you find a better armour and then you are stuck in that one for a loooooong time. I would like a reason for the PC to dress into something else just to break the monotony and to finally be able to wear those gowns that noble NPCs have Posted Image. I would really like a quest where the PC would have to impersonate a nobleman/noblewoman to discover some powerful nobleman's secret.

Stealing sidequest - I really liked Crime wave sidequests in DA:O and hope for something similar in DA2.

Creepy sidequest - something like the alienage orphanage sidequest. A sidequest that has a horror movie feel to it.

What kind of sidequests would you like to see in DA2?

Oh man, I'd love a disguise quest. I know I always sent Zevran & Oghren to Fort Drakon just so I could pinch their noble outfit's after they were done and play dressup with the Warden at camp. There's also just so much potential for hilarious dialogue if Hawke makes a godawful slip-up while disguised as a noble.

And the mystery quest! I know there was one in KotOR, but as a mystery novel fangirl I'd agree that there needs to be more.

Do Want - Individual quests which can be completed solely for Hawkes benefit or for a greater good, depending on how you want Hawke to be.

Don't want - I'd rather not have the somewhat cliched, captured and all your stuff confiscated quest/mission.

Although the main char getting captured has been done manytimes I wouldn't mind seeing it again. Getting out of Fort Drakon or your companions coming to your rescue is one of my favourite parts of DAO. I also like the way it shows that your char isn't invincible and an oppurtunity for your companions to do something by themselves.

I wouldn't mind that the fighting your way out with your bare hands option would be more difficult, a challenge. All the prison guards usually get killed after 2 hits despite the fact your char is naked and unarmed :(

For replayability sakes, I'd like it where certain party members can only be met if we undertake a certain sidequest. For instance, perhaps a store keeper has been robbed and he asks you (for whatever reason) to help him reclaim his inventory. If you say yes, then not only do you track down his inventory, but you also meet up with one of your party companions during the quest. If you say no, then you never are in a situation to meet that party member.

I don't want this for every single party member -- the majority of them should obviously be available to you regardless. But for maybe one or two party members, I'd be for this sort of thing.

expanding on that, make mutually exclusive party memebers in these events. Like if you help the store keeper you meet up with a questing knight that also wises to help. or you could do nothing, or you could go tell a Thieves Guild informant about the store keeper's plan and end up adding the thief who robbed his store as a party member

Dragon Age is a story in which you play(or more likely fight), there probably won't be many sidequests.

I wouldn't like the companions to be mutually exclusive. If the companion is of a certain class that you desperately need at that point you would be kind of forced into helping or not helping the store keeper. You could be playing a good char and need a rogue for your party so you just wouldn't help him. I'd rather that all companions are available so you can decide wheter you like them and have them in the party or you leave them at camp and take them with you another time. Besides that way you never see what kind of relationship the thief and the knight would have as you can never have both in the party.

Well mutually exclusive companions should be of the same class but different characters. That would solve any metagaming issues and you'd be able to pick the one you want based on their character and morals. However I say only the same class and not the exact same skills too. After all making sacrifices is part of playing a 'good' character while a ruthless character would choose to go for the companion that would be more useful regardless of the consequences.
