In Alpha Protocol the story was pretty much being told in flashbacks and from what i gather this is what bioware is doing in DA2. Is this an accurate conclusion or am I way off?

For those that dont know the narrative pretty much played out as a broad statement about a mission, flashback to that mission and complete it the way you want to, flash forward and specific comments are made depending on how you completed the mission, another broad statement about the next mission and rinse and repeat until near the end.

Well for one, Hawke isn't present at the retelling, other than that I don't think anybody besides the devs knows

From what I've heard there aren't so many similarities, though the fact that they're both games that use a 'framed narrative' structure instinctively draws comparisons.

Alpha Protocol is told via flashback and framed through an interactive conversation between the protagonist and the main villain, while Dragon Age II apparently is told by various narrators interviewed by a chantry seeker named Cassandra, narrators who may or may not sometimes embellish the tale influencing gameplay as in the demo.
