I really liked the characters in the first one and I'll be interested to see what characters they give us with next. Maybe we will get some characters that we don't trust and not sure what they're motivations are for us. It would be more interesting to have a party that doesn't completely trust each other or the main player character

Yes same writers. And the devs have said there will be benefits this time around to make your companions not like you.
