Hi all.

This post compares a DPS warrior (2 handed) versus a DPS rogue (two weapon) build.

I started the game and got to lvl 12 as a warrior, and then I rerolled as a rogue and got to lvl 12 on it last night.

Here are my thoughts on each -

Warrior - Using a big two-handed weapon is great, usually I would hit for ~50 points of damage. However, you swing VERY VERY VERY slow.  Also, if you miss, or miss a lot (i.e. on Revenants, etc) this really screws up battles.  For regular encounters you do well but against anything with high defense you struggle.

Rogue - Early levels, this character sucks horribly.  I bumped up dex to ~40 (right now its at 46 with items) and strength to 20 (for armor) and am now bumping up cunning. I have not touched con at all. There is no need to
This character uses dual daggers (With the unoffical dagger patch). Over the long run, this character does much more damage than the warrior.

During the fight with the revenant in redcliff, I sent my tank to take out the archers while my main character (yes, a rogue) tanked the revenant. The revenant missed quite a lot and wih Morrigan healing, it was a *VERY* easy fight.

The warrior had around 40 armor with the dragon plate, my rogue has about 12 I believe.

However, I put Shale in his support mode and suddenly my rogue has over 110 defense.  This is almost untouchable by most creatures at this level, I've found.

Since dex continues to build up, I am wondering if after I get cunning to 30 or so, if I just put the rest of my points into dex.  By lvl 15 I would have 30 cunning, leaving 15 points to go into dex. That would mean 60+ dex,

Anyways, dagger rogues don't suck too bad if you are willing to wait to level them up.  Additionally if you need to kill a mage quickly from range, this character can equip a bow and literally smoke the mage in a few seconds.

Here is another tip for those wanting to use a melee rogue - Make sure your tank character has threaten on all the time, and get them Taunt ASAP.  Basically all the mobs focus on my tank (alistair) and then I backstab them all as they are focused on him (And they do not turn around, either).

Only problem is that sometimes your tank will need to use health poultices since there are 8 mobs beating on him.
