Now, most people know they showed DA2 at Comic Con this year and I knew I had to check it out. So heres the info I got from it along with some personal opinions.
Facts:
-Hawke was around during Dragon Age Origins.
-It will be a different type of story, quoted from the developer, "A story within a story".
-There are two narrators and one who appears to be a dwarf claims to have known Hawke and likes to exagerate about him stating he was 14 feet tall and could kill a hurlock with a single blow. The other appears to be a female human warrior who is trying to get information about Hawke and is asking the dwarf about him and the dwarf states "How do you know I wont make it up as I go?"
-The beginning of the game catches people up to the events of Dragon Age Origins.
-The combat system has been redesigned, a quote from the developer, to allow you to "fight like a spartan" but also keep the strategic feel from DA:O
-Mages now have finishing moves for Giants
-The auto attack seems to have been removed with the A button (xbox 360) being a basic sword attack. (Warriors)
-New easy to understand dialouge wheel.
-Improved graphics for Consoles
-Longer timeline compared to DA:O, about a Decade.
-Companions offering their special services during situations with the dialouge wheel. I.E. a diplomatic Character resolving an arguement.
-Your character talks.
Thats all I can recall at the moment.
Now for what I experienced playing the demo.
They led us into a dark room with seats and tvs everywhere with the title screen for DA2 which had a slot for Downloadable Content BTW. The developer gave us a presentation of the demo and explained the changes.
After waiting a while we got our hands on the controllers (Xbox 360) and had our chance to play it. It starts with the intro catching you up on DA:O then to the combat, your on a mountain with your sister (Mage) and your attacked by Darkspawn which looked a bit different, more skeleton like IMO. The combat with the six mapped skills were the same except for a button mashable mele mapped on the A button. The warrior skills were: A Jumping Sword Slice, A rushing attack, Whirlwind attack and others which I cant remember. It was definitely more gory with the whirlwind attack severing surrounding darkspawn in half exploding with blood. (which I enjoyed
Now for the opinions:
The demo graphics were in very early stages (I hope) because the quality was terrible.
The gore was great!
Not excited at all for the new Story in a Story idea.
Im hoping the race, gender, appearance, ect of Hawke will be changable. Can anyone confirm?
Also the female that changes from a dragon appears to be Flemeth, but something someone brought up is that it may be an older Morrigan? Idk both are possible I guess.
Sorry I couldnt recall all of the details of the demo but thats what I got!
