"We did have latitude and we have changed around not necessarily the way elves look but the space that they’re coming from and what their mindset is. They’re more like plains Indians than like bushmen, say"

It's okay if you didn't grasp my allusion.

I feel like they're changing DA lore here.

I'm pretty sure that was a description of how they made the Dalish different from elves in other fantasy. It wasn't anything new to DA2.

The Dalish were already pretty similar to Native Americans.

Or maybe Free Marcher Dalish live a little differently from Fereldan Dalish...

I understood it this way too. He was explaining how DA elves are different from standard fantasy elves. The Dalish have been described as being similar to native americans before.

I thought that it meant they were changing the elves into fighters that ride horses while ulating and firing arrows at enemies.

Well, the people of the plains didn't HAVE horses until Westerners showed up--but that's another story.

Though I think seeing Dalish riding their white stags and firing arrows would be pretty win.  In a completely immersion-breaking sort of way given how deferentially they treat the halla, but still :D

I know Micah's speech pattern, in Awakening, was similar to the people that play Native Americans in old movies. I hope the elves in DA2 don't all speak like that.

If you're dalish and live away from civilization, I'd imagine you live in whatever wilderness is in your area.

Like in Avatar! I'd assumed all of the Na'vi lived in a jungle, but then it was revealed that there were other areas on the planet and they visit a coastal tribe and...wait for it...a tribe on the plains!!!

I figured he must've been kicked in the head by a horse or something at an early age. Something not quite right about that guy.

Which begs the question. Why keep around such a large animal that could kick you in the head, if you couldn't ride it?

The elves eat horses!
