it seems that the clouds are animated, perhaps a management of day/night cycle if it can represant time that goes on.
Now about Nicholas Thornborrow and his work. (from 1min50 to 2min55), here is my analyse:
It seems for me that it is showing in a narrativ and artistic way the battle of Ostagar, perhaps the way Varric is telling a story of what happened in Ostagar.
check it out:
the man with with a Golden armor could be King Cailan, he is surrounded by two stylized dragon, he is the main aim of the darkspawn.(2min52)
the man with a dark armor could be Loghain(2min33)or Duncan, but not sure, unless it could be a particular darkspawn, or even Hawke.Who knows?
the design of the bridge and the tower could be the Ishal Tower,
the guys in a circle with some trees could be the darkspawn coming from a the forest( remember the battle of Ostagar trailer). This part of video show how they expanded with the bloody progress, and perhaps how it is saw by the Cassandra's Chantry
So if this is a part of the intro, I got the impression we will start our Hawke Story with those fresh Ostagar events
Precisely how I feel. I seriously geeked out watching that. I sort of bounced in my chair like a little kid, and then felt really silly. And happy. This feels like a new take on what I loved about DAO. You can see the influences in the art, but the color scheme and some of the aesthetics are different. It feels like its own thing, but it still feels like a Dragon Age game to me.Big_Chief wrote...
Admittedly I was already sold on the game, but it looked really good in motion, and that's presumably a fairly early build. Am very excited now.
Definitely not! I was fascinated myself. We got a look at how they work. That's some awesome-looking equipment. Makes you wish you could sneak in there some Saturday and play around with it all. That would be a cool job to have.andar91 wrote...
Cool. Am I the only one that finds it fascinating to see inside the offices? I mean, I'm interested in the game, of course, but I always find it fascinating to see how things come together behind the scenes. I just wish they'd have visited the writers! I'm really curious as to what that office looks like. I want to know if they all work in the same room, or if they work in conjunction, or on their own...I mean, that's a whole lot of writing.
*giggles* Now there's a sound marketing strategy! Dragon Age 2: The Legend of Lots of Shirtless Guys, Including Hawke. You'd corner most of the female gamer market and some of the male right there.Andrastee wrote...
I demand that all future DA2 publicity portrays Hawke as a shirtless man in jeans. With a giant sword.
Now, normally I would agree with you--it does annoy me when the effects are really unnecessarily bright in color (like that horrid neon plum-magenta) or overly obtrusive, and I did feel like some of the effects in DAO were like that. They were distracting and looked over-the-top. But in this case, Varric seems very much the type to narrate like, "and then, they all disappeared in a flash of smoke and stars, and before we knew it they were at our throats! But Hawke felled the lot of them with a mighty..." so in this case, certain things will be justified. I would prefer subtlety, but certain things will no doubt fit better with Varric's personality. That, I can accept.Brockololly wrote...
Thats one thing I wasn't fond of in Origins and Awakening- the stealthy rogues just disappearing looked sort of cheesy. Most of the warrior/rogue ability effects in general were a bit over the top- especially in Awakening. It just doesn't make much sense to me why warrior and rogues should have goofy effects all over them- mages you can justify with magic, but for warriors and rogues it just makes things look like an arcade game, IMO.
I know it was mentioned in the Comic Con previews that the effects are back more than ever, which is kind of disappointing- I don't need flames to emphasize Hawke is dashing forward- a solid animation will do just fine.

Wait...
Holy cow, does this mean we have different slots for tops, bottoms, hands, and feet? Mismatched outfits for all!

Oh god, of course everyone's talking about how he's shirtless. Its just a dev build. You noticed he was invincible, right?
