I got the original nwn 2 when it first came out and now decided to try game again since it runs alot better now than in 1.00 however eb games and GAME the 2 main and pretty much only pc game shops say nwn 2 is out of print and I can't buy em at any stores

I need the 2 expansions to get in to multi player and for the lvls and classes so i'm wondering how I can buy these expansions

alot of places (including some stores) are suggesting the only way to get the xpacs is download off pirate bay but I want legit ones and to be able to get on multi player :(

Try amazon for retail copies, or Atari's online store if you prefer digital distribution. For retail there's also ebay, my experience with ebay & SoZ was a little awkward , but your's may be better there - it depends on the seller.

I got the same problem here, the only possible solution is buying a second hand copy or ordering it from abroad.

If it's used (s)he won't be able to play online, afaik.

She won't be able to play online if the CDkey is still IN USE online.

If the CDkey was used in the past, then it shouldn't matter.

I'm still procrastinating about getting the expansions myself, but I'm wary of getting CD key games second hand or by digital download (or getting anything by digital download, really, I'd rather have a nice shiny CD). Quite a few places supposedly offer them quite cheaply, but most are actually out of stock. Amazon's probably your best bet, though I noticed that Amazon.com offers them a lot cheaper than Amazon.co.uk for whatever reason (even before accounting for the exchange rate!).

I should point out though that, wierdly, Amazon also seem to list MotB twice, so you can buy it for either £38.75 or £6.24, at the moment. Your choice. ;)

You have good reason to be wary of buying second hand copies. I've encountered people in the past who've had problems with their CD keys and couldn't play multi-player as a result. Do yourself a favor, avoid the headache and buy a digital copy from Atari if you can't find hard copies anywhere locally.

It is definitely worth it- I thought Mask of the Betrayer was epic, but unfortunately short. I am sure that making something that incredible, longer, would have caused some creative problems though.

Never could get into Storm of Zehir, but others did like it.

Can't see prices in the US store but in Atari UK store, NWN2 platinum (NWN2+MotB+SoZ) is cheaper than MotB+SoZ. You pay less plus get an extra NWN2 key, which you can just give to a friend I guess. Check if this the case with the US store tho.

Also, check if digital download expansions are compatible with a base-NWN2 installed from retail DVD. This is not the case for all games - unfortunately, since I don't have NWN2 digital download I can't check if it applies to NWN2.

I see no reason for anyone to be weary of a digital download. I use it every chance I get. If you want a shiny cd/dvd just burn your downloaded copy onto one. I have re-installed the game using my digital downloads after a format without any problems and personally back up the games on a dvd and I have a 500GB hard-drive to store files.

If you can burn your download onto a CD as good as a retail one, then fine, but the idea of having the thing I just payed money for only in digital format is something I'd rather avoid. Having something I can hold is nicer.

Also, I have something of a sentimental attachment to getting a nice CD box with a proper CD and manual and everything in it (it reminds me of getting my 5-in-1-plus-TotSC BG box set with 6 disks, two manuals and a map). A bit old fashioned, maybe (I mean, nowadays they just put a pdf manual on the disk, let alone a map!) but hey.

Amazon has plenty of both expansions. If you want a hardcopy on Amazon, ask to see if it comes with the box, not just a manual and DVD in a plastic bag. Important for me. If you can't get an answer if NWN2 comes with the original box art, go to Ebay, and ask the seller if it does, and to ship (NWN2) in a box and not a parcel envelope, because the original box is made of cardboard, and will get crushed. Both expansions are in a hard DVD case with box art.

It's nice to have hard copies in this day and age. getting rarer. Also, all three games come with beefy manuals, something always nice for a bedtime read, rather than straining, while sitting, reading a .pdf file for three hours. :)

Digital installations and retail copies do peacefully interact with each other. This has been verified I don't recall how many times now.

As to second hand copies. I dunno. The word is that the vast majority of the purchasers are never registered online. That vast majority also supposedly play the game, shelve it or sell it and move on. That should mean that your odds of buying something second hand (and I mean more at resell shops than from online, actually) with a still valid CD-Key are pretty good. I know when I bought NWN, NWN Gold and NWN Platinum, I could only get them second hand and all my CD-keys are valid. Go figure.

This time, I has been lucky to have the cash to get them pretty much right away, so I don't know how much of a difference there might be in the odds with NWN2. Still, if the demographics and bean counters are anything close to being right, then an email asking about a valid CD-Key for an online (say, a used Amazon.com or Ebay copy) retail purchase should 'protect' you from any false claims if it comes to that. Digital purchases come with their own valid key auths from the digital retailer and all inquiries must be handled through them with any issues that arise from those purchases. Not Obsidian, Not Atari. That's how it's set up.

That's all just FYI, BTW.
