Same here. However, for the most part I find Mass Effect's Shepard character to be more of a jerk than evil when it comes to renegade decisions. For every 'evil' action he takes, there's a perfectly reasonable justification for it (this is aside from the times he's just jerky for the sake of being a jerk). I find renegade Shep more funny than downright evil.

I still haven't been able to bring myself to play a 'renegade' character in Dragon Age, though. The choices in that game just seem more evil than in Mass Effect (2).

Okay....yes....evil was a poor choice of words on my part and I'm sorry for that.  But, I do have a problem playing a jerk like how Renegade Shepard is.  He's not an Anti-Hero (I don't consider the Punisher an Anti-Hero, either).  A true Anti-Hero is someone like John Marston.

Never got the feeling of "evil" in Dragon Age.  It was....bad....but not to the extent of evil I've had the option of playing in a previous game (Baldur's Gate II, anyone?).

Still....give me the Paragon option any day.

The problem I have with pure Paragon Shepards (of either gender) is they come across as sounding too holier-than-thou for my liking. I can't even put my finger on why exactly. It's not the voice acting, it's not the writing (I don't think), I just can't really define why a pure Paragon Shepard just rubs me the wrong way.

That's why I paragade most of my conversations. Intent is paragon, but with some renegade dialogue to accompany it to make it seem less self-righteous.

Paragades FTW. It's why Thane's recruitment mission is so much fun in an RP sense. Be kind and helpful to the salarian workers, threaten a merc (I love the intimidate option), and mock Nassana before she bites it.

So does anyone here play MaleShep exclusively? I used to, but then I wanted to enjoy the male romance options (hello, Kaidan Alenko) so I tried out a fem Shep and have alternated the genders of my Shepards ever since.

I play both... but when I play MaleShep I play Sheploo.

I started out with just one M!Shep, and most of my completed ME1 playthroughs before ME2 came out were M!Sheps, so I used to. Now I play three M!Sheps and three Fem!Sheps, but the M!Sheps get way more attention, mainly because my M!Sheps are mostly my favorite classes (Infiltrator and Vanguard).

I went from playing FSheps exclusively to -currently- playing only MSheps.

Then again, I wanted to have the Gender & class ratio evened out. So far I have 3:2 (that's FShep:MShep) and if I ever do an Adept, it'll be a MShep. Why keep it even? I dunno, just because I can. Heh. Though I'll probably cave and just use Sheploo because after so many playthroughs I'm kinda bored with the customization options and spending 10-15 minutes trying to make one look passable.

Speaking of which, I think I've finally created another good custom MShepard. He is... very manly. I'm probably going to wait until I've a better grasp on anatomy/builds to draw him, because I imagine Cameron would make Tobias (my other MShep) look like Adam Lambert build-wise in comparison. LMAO!

I played FemShep only once.  I love Jennifer Hale; she's an awesome voice actress, but I guess I'm more used to Shepard sounding like he does for MaleShep.  Aside from the one time trial of FemShep, I do play MaleShep exclusively.  In fact....I deleted the FemShep file.

I use to play MaleShep and FemShep on and off, but recently I've just been playing MaleShep, I guess I've gotten to use to him, and don't want to change.

But also my Disc One broke, so yeah.

It's much better to alternate between both. I have two Shepards, both of whom are from ME1, both of whom are of opposite genders, and both of whom I love equally. ^_^

No custom-Shep, male nor female, can beat Sheploo in my opinion. I think Sheploo as a certain charm that every single custom-Shep I've seen so far just lacks. I bet a lot of people disagree with me, that's okay. But if you agree with me then please 2nd this for the sake and honor of Mark "Shepard" van der Loo!

I don't share your opinion that any custom Shepard can't beat ShepLoo. However,  I agree that ShepLoo has a certain charm. He is a little derpy, but also funny in a way.

Yeah I do. I just can't play femShep for longer than 2 hours before I get totally and utterly bored. I don't know why, but femShep feels like she just doesn't belong in Mass Effect. But I guess it's just me (I don't want to start any flame-wars between us maleShep players and the femShep players ^^;).

I love custom Shepards, but there's nothing quite like playing a Sheploo. It has this, I don't know, "canon" feeling to it, though that's probably from all the marketing.

Most of mine are. My "canon" Sheard is male. I just enjoy Hale's voice acting a lot and I like experiencing as much of the content of a game as possible so I'd say my Shepards are about 85% male.

I don't play ManShep exclusively, I have two male Shepards (one Paragon, one Renegade) and two female Shepards (one Paragade, one Renegon). But my Paragon male Shepard is my "canon" Shepard, and I use Sheploo for him. My other three Shepards all have custom faces.

I also use Sheploo for my canon Shepard. But I like customizing my FemShep. ;)

I've noticed the shepard on the cover of mass effect 1 is different from the in game model... I wonder if anyone has a face code that looks like that...

I've noticed that Sheploo isn't exactly like the marketed face either.

*kind of wishes she could recreate a Malcolm Cousland for her next male Shepard*

so far I have only played as Sheploo, the face and voice are Shephard to me. Also, from what I've seen on these boards and what I tried to create the Sheploo face is by far the most attractive...yeah I'm a little shallow, I care what my character looks like!

I'm also struggling to play any class other than Vanguard...but that's another story :)
