Yup, I'm for Default ManShep FTW. He definitely looks the part more than any others, and looks more "real" than any custom appearances.
As for Mark Meer, I never had a problem with his work, and in any case he did an excellent job in ME2.

Male Shepard is most logical. White males are the first to do everything, so being the first White Male Human as Specter is logical. It's completely illogical that a female would be the first over a male.
Plus her voice acting is horrendous, it's like a dieing cow.

BTW I have 3 Male Shep's and 3 FemShep's and voice acting from both of them is briliant.

As far as scanning Mark Meer's face for the default MaleShep; not sure if they would do that now, so deep in the trilogy.

Speaking of default MaleShep...what ever happened to this look? Was this the default to begin with, I mean before the first game was ever released?

It doesn't bother me a bit that the game allows anyone to play Shepard as a female, and it doesn't surprise me too much that some folks who play the female Shepard like Hale's voice more (opinions are like something else that everyone has one of)......

I wasn't being sarcastic. It's a thing on MMA forums to start a war wagon in support of your favorite fighters where everyone jumps on and talks about how awesome that fighter is.

Generally, I always play as a male character in video games mostly because I tend to view the character on the screen to represent me since I'm a guy in real life. Of course there's nothing wrong with the female Shepard, but I like being a man!

Quite succinct. I'm not much of a "role-player", so being something I'm not disconnects me from the game. Of course, I believe ME to be a linear, story driven, dialogue tree game...not much role-playing to be done except for choosing if you are going to be good or "bad".
