Also, this might be off-topic, but is it me or do FemShep players have a huge grudge against those of us
who play as ManShep? I've seen a lot of hate and negativity being mortared in "our" direction...*shrug*
Admittedly, some do.
I don't. It took me a while to become accustomed to playing as MaleShep, because my 'headcanon' Shep is female and I'm used to hearing Hale's voice rather than Meer's.
But you know what I discovered? I
really enjoyed the experience. MaleShep is a blast to play, and it's a damn shame that so many people who prefer FemShep feel like they have to heap criticism on Meer's performance. Sure, some of his lines are a bit flat- I, however, prefer to think of it as 'deadpan snark'. Delishus.
My guess is that FemShep players are so defensive because there are stiull relatively few strong females in videogames, at least as protagonists. They feel like someone who should be considered as much 'the Commander' as MaleShep is being swept under the rug and/or treated like she's less valuable, because of her absence in screenshots/merchandise/videos/etc.
People who think they're being ignored do tend to get very... loud.
Which is understandable, to some degree- but then again, customSheps of
both genders are being ignored in marketing. It's all Sheploo, who -like it or not- is the poster boy for Mass Effect.

I just like to laugh insultingly at these apparent maleshep trends, and ignore the very vocal, extreme minority.
Actually, it's not as much of a minority as you think. I don't kn ow where Bioware got their statistics from (maybe they meant 'plays exclusively as FemShep?) but it seems to be closer to a 60/40 split.
MaleShep still comes out on top, but not by as much of a head as you'd suppose.
Anyway. Point of this whole rambling post is that, yeah, I support MaleShep. And his Distaff Counterpart.
Hell, I support Shep, period.
HUGS FOR EVERYONE.
