To me, Sheploo is, "John Shepard." He doesn't feel like my Shepard. Maybe my custom ones look more plasticky, but they feel more like they belong to me.
I do wish I could have the ability to make minute modifications to his face, like I can with Jane Shepard (her face is still available in the "custom face," mode, but in "custom face," mode with ManShep, there's completely different faces available). Trying to redo faces is a painstaking process, and I think he's individualized anyway, so his features aren't available.
Which is a shame. I want to make a few modifications to skin tone and eyes to make him more "mine," otherwise I would use his face.

I understand, and i can't ever get into the story when my shep is not vanderloo. As much i'd like to personalise my story even more by creating a custom shepard, i just can't get past the unrealistic faces. If the custom creator tool were to bring the detail of the face up to the standard of sheploo, then without a doubt my canon would be custom.

And i completely agree that it would be better to be able to tweak sheploo. I'd definitely make a few changes to make him more individualised from the rest.

I think some people misinterpret Meer's voice as being 'wooden' when it's actually more about him deliberately keeping his voice emotionless in an attempt to avoid ascribing emotions to lines that the player may not intend.

I think Mark Meer is intentionally playing Shepard as the disciplined Stoic, and in many ways it adds authenticity to the role.

I only use for my 4th MaleShep default appearance in ME1 but then I created new face in ME2. Only Shep I have with face code. lol

However, after abandoning that game and giving maleShep a try, I fell in love (both with maleShep and the game). For some reason, the game didn't click with me until then. I've still completed 3 femShep playthroughs to date, but my cannon Shepard is male.

Awesome. I'm pretty similar except I only have one femShep playthrough. I really can't get into the game when I'm playing her.

But Dude Shep is so much fun to play as. I just love the delivery of some of the lines.

I have too many playthroughs to count, both as femshep and manshep, but I still think of Shepard as a dude. It always grates on me a little bit when I hear people talking about shep and they say "she did this" or "took her", it just seems out of place to me.

I always create femshep, but almost all of my manshep playthroughs are Sheploo. I just can't take the crappy looking custom face textures. Looking at people's created sheps always make me cringe a little (no offense intended to all you custom sheps out there).

Edit: Also, I think it's hilarious that all the manshep haters criticize Mark Meer's "wooden" delivery, but for some reason love Jennifer Hale's nuanced, emotion laden voice acting.<_<

Though I have to admit default Sheploo is really good looking. But I have seen custom Sheps that well...are extremely good looking. If I have to look at someone for 20+ hours it might as well be a good looking guy.



So I play with a mix of custom and default Sheps.

Haha, I don't mean to start any wars. I just think that they both sound a little emotionless, and it's funny that people hear it in one, but not the other.
