Do the FemShep fanbase have a valid argument?  Of course they do!  But there are some that can be a bit....irrational.  And you're right - Bioware doesn't help any by saying that Sheploo is the "iconic" face of Mass Effect.

I wouldn't say Sheploo was iconic if 80% of players use a custom Shep. Sure, the name "Commander Shepard" is iconic, most gamers will hear that name and immediately think of Mass Effect. But for me, Sheploo is just a face used for marketing, he's far from being iconic.

I think that's what was meant by "iconic".  That BioWare/EA has chosen him to be the face of Mass Effect, so to speak.

Hi, I had the same experience with Sheploo.  By the time I started playing around with the face editor I was already several playthroughs gone with him and a few with femshep.  He is the face of Mass Effect, at least for me.  Still slightly disturbed by that creepy face he pulls with Miranda however...
