Choose Jean-Lucs' pics for that. He's using a HD texture mod of his own making in his shots, so they stand out in that respect. Check the last couple of pages here, and then have a look in his own thread, "Higher Resolution Textures for Characters", for more.

Or do you just mean large sized pics, like 1920x1080 resolution, etc?

The higher the resolution and the larger the image the better.

Well, I have already referred you to Jean-Luc's great quality shots, but I don't know about their size. If size is your main concern, check out my images of Sheploo on page 32 of this thread. They should be large enough. But he wears a helmet in them.

Thanks, I think one of these will work. If not, I know who to ask.;)

So...guys, are we to continue with this MANSHEP SCREENSHOT DAY each Tuesday or what? I'd like to hear more than one or two "yes" here, or it would not be convincing. If several "yes", then what do you think about that themes idea which Systemlord suggested here the other day?

I'll happily continue with the Manshep Screenshot Day!

And I also approve of Mesina's new avatar!

Where's this image from, Badpie?

The background is a screenshot from my PC ME.  Head is Shepard's, body is some random model.  Also added blankie.  Then just kind of painted over.  So it's a combo of a few things.

Of course we should continue with ManShep Screenshot Tuesdays. As for themes, I'd say let's hold off on that until we get more of a response from our fellow ManShep fans to submit regular non-themed images.

Then I'm pretty impressed! Never suspected that at first sight. Excellent graphical work, Badpie! :D

The guy to to the left of Sheploo in this wellknown Bioware splash screen must be Saren, but I have always wondered who the woman to the right is. Anybody knows?

Thanks, Domar! I'm still learning so I appreciate the feedback. :)  Oh and that's the box art for Mass Effect.  The Turian to Shepard's right is Garrus and the gal in pink is none other than Ashley Williams.

Oh, so it's Garrus to the left, and Ashley to the right? I guess I didn't look close enough on the Turian then. But I couldn't tell at all with the woman. Thanks for clearing that up for me, Badpie (and Jean-Luc, too, if Badpie hadn't beat you to it  :)).

So Bioware marketed Garrus and Ashley as Sheploo's perhaps most important team members?

Does anyone feel like they're kind of gently pushed into making a Shepard with 'compatible' History and War Records? I.E. Do you think you're encouraged to make an Earthborn/Ruthless, Spacer/War Hero, Colonist/Sole Survivor Shepard? My personal favorite combos are Spacer/Ruthless and Colonist/War Hero.

Also on that same subject, you know what I love about the History quests? The fact that the game shows you what Shepard could have become if they didn't join the military. Earthborn Shepards could have become Finch, Colonists could have become Talitha, Spacers could have become Zabaleta...well, no, I suppose that one is a bit of a stretch but you get what I'm saying, right?

I do in a sense. But it's very subtle to say the least. I'm actuelly talking about the speech Shaira gives Shepard once the quest have been completed. Her 2 part speech varies depending on what  Pre-service history and service record the player took for Shepard. The combos that feels best/makes the most sense are..

Spacer/warhero
Colonist/Ruthless
Earthborn/sole survivor

Granted that this is ultimatively my own feelings and opinion. And what I feel gives the best background story for Shepard.

As for the background mission showing what Shepard could have become, that is true for colonist/earthborn, but not for spacer.
The spacer background actuelly gives a detail and insight of what happended on Mindoir and how Batarian slavers act. And best of all, it's one of the few times where it shows the parrent of a RPG hero that is still alive and kicking ass.

Good subject, Aggie! ;)

I do try to make the personal history and war records of my characters "compatible" in one sense or other, but I don't feel prodded by the game structure to certain combinations, if that is what you mean. When I create a character, I start with an idea of what kind of person he or she is, and this idea usually determines his or her class. Personal history and war records "follow" from there. Examples:

Grayson - a woman with strong confidence and very high intelligence. To use her brain, she chose to be engineer. Looking for maximum challenge in this profession, she signed on to help build up the colonies and various stations in space. The many different assignments forced her to travel a lot and adapt to this sort of life, so she became a spacer (the "normal" upbringing of which story-wise also fitted the foundation of her confidence). In what kind of war situation would her background benefit her most? Answer: the situation on Akuze when the thresher maws struck. It was only thanks to her high intelligence of assessing correctly the situation, and her engineering skills, using the terrain and physical objects around her to full advantage, that she survived that day, and was the only one who did so. She came away from that trauma with nothing but a rather nasty scar to tell about it.

Gene - a man with tremendous energy and relentless drive to catch bad guys. The source of this energy is the trauma he experienced as a young colonist on Mindoir, where all of his loved ones and friends perished at the hands of savage Batarian bandits. He nearly died there, too, and carries ugly scars all over his body since. Sworn to hunt down the culprits and all of the same evil sort to prevent anything like that to happen again, he signed on for best possible training to do so: the career as a soldier (marine) and officer of the Alliance Fleet. But the dark personal history sometimes gets the better of him. If something reminds him too strongly of Mindoir, he can loose his composure and erupt into a terrible fit of rage. A number of such instances has earned him the nickname of "Mean Gene", and a reputation of being ruthless. One of those instances was on Torfan.

Enola - a woman with Native American blood benefitting greatly from a strong tradition of spirituality, bravery, and closeness to nature. The latter has always made her parents and herself reluctant to leave Earth, so she was brought up there, despite the harsh conditions as an ethnic "outsider" in the megatropolises of the white man. But she learned to fend for herself in the tough streets there, and develop some of her unusual talents. With the remarkable courage typical for her people, she rose to prominence in the street gangs, the economic business of which took her to the "finer" strata of the society. Eventually, she knew how to cope with any kind of environment. An Alliance recruiter spotted her capacities, persuaded her to leave the old life before her criminal record became too heavy, and instead recieve the formal training as an infiltrator ready for anything. All of these qualities later combined perfectly to make her take charge of the situation on Elysium, hold the ground on her own during some critical moments, and win the day for the Alliance there. That's why she's regarded as a war hero throughout the Alliance today.

See what I mean?

Mario - Colonist, with Croatian blood( mother's side), joined Alliance not to avenge his family and friends, but to make sure nobody suffers same fate. During his training he showed his brilliant skills in all weapons training( sniping skills stand out) and so does his leadership skills. Despite that he would never be transferred in officer academy without Captain Anderson, who found a lot of potential in him, do to disrespecting Alliance and Croatian jingoism. Normally he would be kicked from boot camp but he was instead transferred in officer academy. With private talk with Anderson, Mario started to show some respect to Alliance and keep jingoism private. After he finished academy he was started N7 special training and soon become best in his class and ever before. After that he was transferred to Alliance ship Warsaw where he remained until shore leave Elysium in which coincidentally was attacked by well organized attack by huge band of pirates, slavers and batarian warlords, which was later known as Skyllian Blitz. He quickly rallied few of his troops and Elysium's militia and hold of attackers until Alliance fleet come and annihilate attackers. During defense not only his bravery and heroism was noted then, but also mercy. Many Batarins surrender after Alliance reinforcements arrived and many militia members wanted to execute them out of revenge. With his charisma and his past from Mindoir he convinced militia to spare them. Soon he was enlisted to be under command of Captain Anderson and later become friends, along side with Kaidan Alenko and Jenkins. After the events of Eden Prime attack he never forgive himself for loosing Jenkins and same thing later with Kaidan on Virmire. At least he did find some comfort with Ashley.

Somewhat because of the bonuses in ME1 but in ME2 not at all.

Ah my favorites are Spacer/WarHero and Colonist/Sole Survivor

...I suck at history so I'm baffled. XD

I didn't feel the need to pair them up really. Yeah you get the bonuses but for me, spacer/war hero was too golden boy, colonist/sole survivor was too tragically funny. Earthborn/ ruthless I liked, but I also like earthborn/war hero. My Shep is a spacer /sole surivor - he's the good guy that's seen enough crap not to be the boy scout. :)

I've done the Earthborn/War Hero and always though Colonist was the perfect match for Ruthless. I was interested in making a Sole Survivor but the whole Cerberus ting has always bugged me.

I'm not really sure which history & psych profile are specifically compatible with each other.  I guess they all are ,depending on how we envision our own shepards.   For myself, I have 6 Shepards, one for each class and I try to make both match in my own weird little ways.  The decisions I make in the game is partly also influence by how I see them as.    I guess I'll just use two of the manshep as an example since this is a the manshep thread.

Duke Nathan Shepard - Earthborn / War Hero (Renegade)
Being poor & out on the streets trying to eke out a living isn't easy.  Especially when you are a nobody.  It was when he was young that he recognized and respected power.  With it, he could not only survive and could get what he wanted.
When he failed to take over the REDS as the leader he realized that life is bigger than just being a goon for a gang.  Thats when he signed up with the Alliance System Military.  Here he learnt to play his cards right.   By the time the events of the Skyllian Blitz is over, he was the most decorated officer of his cohort.  He had the right people in the right places looking out for him.

Life seems pretty good compared to if he had stayed on the slums of Earth.  Yet he wanted the more.  Although saving the galaxy from the Reapers was his mission & goal.  He also saw an opportunity to put himself into a position with greater power.  All that he has ever done was but a stepping stone to what he wanted.  During the time when the Geth attacked Eden Prime till the attack on the Citadel.
There were rumors that he had done many questionable things & some argue that he let his success at the Skyllian Blitz get to his head.  But none other than himself knows of his true motives..

Wylan Richard Shepard - Spacer / Ruthless (Paragon)
Born in space & raised in space.  Wylan's parents are prestigious and highly decorated naval officers.  They often give him the best but also expected the best from him.  He knew his parents loved him and he loved them too.  Nothing pleases him as much as hearing about them on the news vids.
From an early age, he knew what he wanted in life and it was to make his parents proud of him.   He had the best to learn from and graduated from military academy with the highest honors, citations..  By all accounts he would make a very promising officer.

Then came Torfan.  It was here that he realized he isn't as good as he thought himself to be. But failure is not an option.  They had to keep pushing, they had to win, HE had to win.   Many died on that day, his fellow comrades & batarians he executed in rage.  Their blank & lifeless eyes haunt him till today.   It was only then he realized the gravity of his actions.
The soldiers who served with him, he remembered their stories, their laughter, their hopes & their dreams.  One of them wanted to see her sister graduate, one of them is looking forward to visiting his estranged mother and repair a family bond.  One was about to get married to his childhood sweetheart.  Now they are gone and he was the one who sent them to their deaths.  He was but a small boy who wanted to play war..

Looking back, perhaps being assigned to the Normandy was the best thing that happened to his life.  He could never forget about the past.. but all that has happened was a 2nd chance given to him to redeem himself.

Personally, no, although I do have three Sheps with "compatible," histories.

Since we're on the subject of ManSheps, I personally really like my Colonist/War Hero Shep, particularily because the universe perceives him as this badass, but he really isn't.   I characterize him as a leader to the universe, but he doesn't know how he even got that role.  He's made some really derpy decisions you could say, like killing the last rachni and getting a lot of his team killed.  He also isn't a big fan of aliens, although he has an asari fetish.  I play him with all these opposing forces that kind of clash.  And I like him more because he's a badass, but a fallible, human badass who sometimes doesn't think his decisions through under pressure. He himself doesn't really know how the hell he defended Elysium.
