Oh it's Tuesday and we may get trailer for the Arrival DLC today.

Well let me show off my ManShep's N7 armor.

Also I realized I don't have Spacer/War Hero Shepard, neither with FemShep's.

I support Sheploo & custom males Shepards.  My preference is to play the game as a male Shepard because generally I play rpg's as a harmless type of fantasy-fulfillment.  I have yet to play a female Shepard, since I don't envision myself as a femaile saving the galaxy.  I use custom faces and I think the Sheploo face is awesome as well - Mark Meer's voice is excellent and he does more than a servicable job voicing dialogue.

It's pretty much how I play rpgs, my Fable avatar and Baldur's Gate avatars are all also male - I don't ever play females.

Women have their own strength and I have no problem with strong female protagonists - take Ripley in Alien & Aliens - she's awesome.  For me, it's not the same kind of strength.  For example, I responded to my parents differently, my mother could intimidate me in her way and my father in another.

I think that's why I respond to male strength differently.  A female has never intimidated me physically.  So when I role-play, I desire to have an avatar who projects that male intensity.

Neither ME1 or ME2 are perfect at portraying the avatars with human emotional range, but I find maleshep's animation to be adequate enough to immerse myself into the story.

I tend to play default Sheploo. Every time I try to make a face he comes out looking weird, or if he comes out halfway normal, his face doesn't match the voice very well. I guess I've been conditioned to associated Vanderloo's face and Meer's voice as the defining characteristics of Commander Shepard that I have trouble imagining anything else.

Question for you all:

What is the line that you think MaleShep utters that sounds most badass in the entire game. I'm fond of a couple.

The renegade response when you first meet Thane and he asks why you're going after the Collectors: "The collectors are attacking human colonies. I'm going to show them why that's a bad idea."

The Intimidate option on Illium when you talk to the weapons merchant (Conrad Vernor's quest):

Asari: What, you can't just shoot me, there are cameras everywhere.
Shepard: I don't give a vorcha's ass about your cameras.

The Intimidate option on the merc you run into in Thane's recruitment mission (the one you can renegade interrupt and push out a window):

Shepard: What sound do you think you'll make when you hit the ground?  Think you'll hear it before you die?

The renegade speech on the SM is pretty good too. Funny, since I'm mostly paragon, but I'm all about spilling collector/reaper blood.

If you killed Council in ME1 and choose Paragon dialogue in LotSB with Vasir "I sacrificed Destiny Ascension with 10 000 people on board, INCLUDING THE COUNCIL!".

To looter: "I've killed people for less."

Totally badass minus Renegade Shep's obnoxiousness and obsession with theatrics/one-liners.

@Mesina - trailer for Arrival today? Must check that out.
Like that display of armors for your sheps. Do you stick to a different build and appearance for each one of them? And what kind of goggles are Tom wearing? They're different from Ubel's, right?

@Almostfaceman - yes, maleshep is sort of the "real" way to go for me in these games as well. The tough action route. That doesn't stop me from enjoying a couple of femshep careers, too. Because I made them look like they can handle themselves - much like Ripley in the Alien movies - and I like seeing good looking women in action. But in their case, I remain more like an observer of their careers than a participant in them. Still a lot of fun. Like watching a good movie.

Anyway, here's a couple of real action shots from my maleshep career...

Ah! My two favourite renegade speeches in Mass Effect for sure! I also have to mention telling TIM to shove it after the suicide mission as well. The only mission I go full renegade is on Thane's loyalty mission, nothing beats telling an engineer there's a bomb in his workstation ^_^. "Get out! Before it explodes!"

Are there any interviews where Meer talks about Shep for a while? I havent really seen anything besides little 10 second clips.

Is there any clips of Meer and Vanderloo togethor talking about shep as well?

I went Sheploo due to liking his face.

That is not so bad. I think it will provide som interesting challenges regarding combat and how we should approach it.

That was outdated info then, trailer will come out at the same time as DLC.

And that's a Recon Hood helmet and yes, those are 2 different headsets( both DLC).

Damn, I was hoping to avoid any Arrival "spoilers" (I use that term loosely) in this thread :P. Oh well. So we go solo? Not really arsed, most of my squadmates are useless anyhow!

Both DLCs? Not proper DLCs - as in "DLCs available for all gamers around the world" - right? Or can a European like me (sitting on a Digital Deluxe Edition of the game) get them somewhere somehow?

Those helmets were part of a Dr.Evil Pepper and EA deal IIRC. I think it's expired and I don't know if there is a way to get them anymore. Shame :( I like the helmet Mesina's Tom Shepard is wearing, looks swanky!

I don't understand the idea behind making some game content exclusive to a certain small group of gamers like that. What is gained by making the game less rich and enjoyable for the majority in this way? If there's a petition somewhere directed to Bioware/EA to release all such content in the end as proper purchasable DLC for all, I'd sign it directly.

Petitions are not allowed on BSN.

Either wait for ME2 GOTY edition or buy ME2 on PS3 and download Recon Operation Pack for free.

Also it is possible to get them in future DLC like with Aegis Pack where you got that Incisor Rifle that was only available in Digital Deluxe edition.

I always thought the Pepsi-Exclusive DLC was stupid. If I remember correctly, that DLC was made available to PS3 owners with the "Recon Pack." Still weird its yet to show up on the 360 and PC Cerberus Network.

Honestly, I didn't think it was the best DLC ever. But I still enjoyed it, any chance to play Shepard again is good enough! I did like the acting in it, I also thought the animations were fantastic! Those were probably the best parts of the DLC. Shep's movements looked really fluid and not like the Mr. Roboto he usually is in ME1+2. If that's we have to look forward to in the third installment then I'll be a happy duck indeed!
