But then where do you stop? Perhaps, in addition to the booby/body slider, I would like to be able to completely customise the look of my stronghold (if there is one) - everything, from the walls and roof, to the interior decor. And what about total armour customisation - shouldn't I be able to turn a regular piece of tank plate into a bright purple chainkini if I have the in-game gold? Or vice versa (more likely, for me:happy:) And I want more shades of lipstick, and more tattoos, and more hairstyles, and I wanna completely customise the look of all my companions. And if I'm having an effect on an entire city, I want to be able to redesign that city from the ground up, dammit! Okay, so I'm exaggerating, but do you see my point? Loads of people would probably want loads of different things, customisation-wise, but the more of them Bio puts in, the less resources they have for stuff which is kind of integral, and the more the game turns into the Sims. While that is a franchise I've spent some time with, it is definitely not a direction in which I'd like to see Dragon Age go.
It isn't a matter of being offended by big breasts (the very idea!), or of thinking that people shouldn't be allowed to play the way they want, just a matter of prioritising. x
I tend to favor customization of my character over customization of the world. I'd love more hairstyles and the ability to customize armor a bit (not full to chainmail bikini, but I'd love to be able to change the colors at least). Customizing companions and keeps? Not as interesting to me; I can accept those as being outside of my control.
That said, for an RPG, I think the elements of character creation should have some effect on the game. If they were going to allow customizable breast size then there should be some +/- to it beyond just cosmetic. Like larger breasts negatively affecting carry weight and archery skills, adding to the noticibility of the character (+communications skills, + attraction with certain people, -not drawing attention to oneself), and possibly even rising the cost of armor (since it'd have to be customized).
But is it worth it, when considering the limitation of resources to follow such a path? Really depends on the game being created, but also how far you want to expand the consequences. To me DA series isn't really that kind of game and I agree that in a case of priorities there are better things to look at.

For what it's worth, I wasn't being entirely serious re my own wants there. I have zero interest in building a keep in Dragon Age, like you it would be a more personal level of customisation I'd enjoy (breast size unimportant to me, though :-)). But I bet some people would really like that kind of thing, and that was sort of my point, that if Bio tries to cater to every option that everyone would like, they end up sacrificing stuff that's much more important.
Urrrghhhh, that wasn't very articulate, was it? I need wine, that always helps!

I've got no problem with freedom and choice and customization of the pc, but changing the body size/shape may affect the way the armor looks on a body. I doubt the devs can accomadate every different body style and shape that the players create.

You're right, they can. But it would take away from the things that people play a BioWare game for.
Again, if it's so easy, and just so important, why don't most RPGs allow for it?

So what you're saying is that boob sliders and body adjusters will make a great game, even though it may not be easy for the devs to do?

Of course you must realise what the word great and good really mean to each individual.

If they could simply find a way to get around the engine limitation which apparently makes armor unstretchable and requires new models of it to be copied in as many different sizes as it's possible to be worn in, and if that didn't take too many zots to do so, then it's not that unreasonable of a thing to request sliders in some limited extent. (Limited being important, because of course if you stretch something too much it will look absurd, and because of course you have to draw the line somewhere, otherwise the customization options would just be overwhelming for the player and take too much time to implement for the devs).
If it does take too many zots, yeah, I agree it's not integral. But to say it adds absolutely nothing, well, you could say the same about the bazillion of facial feature sliders we have. But I like having all of those options nonetheless.

They don't have to be, but there's a reason they should be. 'Cause not everyone likes buff bodies. I know women who like the Seth Rogen/Jason Segel type; the cuddly pudgy teddy-bear guys, and I am a woman who doesn't mind buff, but prefers to date a guy who's somewhere between lean-muscled, average, and scrawny stick-man. I've no doubt there are guys out there who ARE the teddy bear/scrawny type as well, and might enjoy being able to play with a build that resembles their own. Our differences make us interesting.Deviija wrote...
I also liked having buff (man) mages in DA:O. Why do magic-users have
to be skinny? I think it is a silly stereotype. Besides, there is
plenty of time for learnin' books and workin' on your fitness.
It's not the class necessarily... I'd take class differences if that was the only way I could play varied body types, but considering human is now our only choice, it would be nice if we could make a few choices about height and shape, however minor they might be.
Jiggle is exquisitely annoying. Give me support any day. That's the sort of thing that really has no place in a game which has a point other than titillation. Even a stupid chain-mail bikini is preferable to jiggle.mllrthyme wrote...
Agreed. No jiggly-ness - it would seriously impede my rogue's ability to behead people.
Just out of curiosity, how would you feel about a bulge slider for males?Arttis wrote...

To be fair, I was referring to their behinds. 'Though I wouldn't be suprised if their breasts were affected as well. I don't think we got to see a front view of a female toon running, however.Wynne wrote...
