Click on the orange update bubble

Click the X on the left side of the update you want to remove

Then sign out and back in

Repeat until they're all gone.

You have to sign out after removing the update or they will come back when you refresh.

I have one pop up and your method isn't working, it worked many times before this one is like shoving a grand piano into small door.

I've tried this over and over again. It isn't working.

Anyone got any other suggestions?

Some updates seem resistant to being removed...I've had one for a year now.

This does appear to be a major, prevalent issue. I've managed to escape it myself (due to a mix of luck and the benevolent gaze of the internet deities), but several of my friends have had to suffer it for some time now.

Is there any hope of a fix in the near future?

Didn't work for me. I guess I'll be forever stuck with 8 ghostly updates.

Okay, to give the full story in case context is helpful... I was sent an invite to join a group, but before I could decline the person who sent it deleted the entire group.

That has left me with a '1 New Group Invitation(s)' update that I can't get rid of.

Unfortunately I'm exactly the type of person who is driven completely mad by this kind of thing... so any assistance would quite genuinely save my sanity...

There is a way to delete it but you need the group number that sent the invite.

Then you click on any group go through the steps of removing it but before the last step(with Chrome)  you right click on the button/ click inspect element/ then right click on the line of code that hasr the group numebr in it and click edit as html and paste the group number of the deleted group there.  then click the button and poof the update is gone. It also works with ghost FRs but the problem is if you don't have the person User number or group number you're out of luck.

Thank you for the help, I really appreciate it!

I do have the group number, it's http://social.bioware.com/group/4636/

Unfortunately the HTML edit doesn't seem to take. When I click the 'Leave Group' button, the grey box simply freezes. If I click the grey box away then nothing has changed.

With the Two you can't reject, why don't you just join and leave. As for the the ghost update Here is how you get ride of it. And this goes for the Uncanny's ghost update too I miss spoke in my earlier post and thats why it didn't work. You still need the group number of group to be removed though.

First you need someone to send you a New Group Invite.

Then you go through all the steps to reject that group except for the last one.

Its at that point that you right click on the reject button and and go to inspect element

you right click on the line the list the group number and edit the number to the group you want to reject

then go back to the main window and click the final reject button.

Inspect element might be something different on FF.

as for getting ride of the ghost updates with out a user or group number I have no clue. I'll keep messing around and see if I can stumble on to something, though it took me over a year to figure out this way.

I didn't see this group initially, but I had the same problem. This is what I found.

I tried the suggestions referenced by the Cap'n (thanks!). Initially they didn't work. I read it as clicking on the popup bubble then in the small javascript window that opens clicking the "X" to the left of the group & logout. Didn't work. I tried it and then deleting all cookies. Didn't work.

I just now clicked on the "X" to the right of the popup bubble, logged out and it worked!  [Edit:  the "X" shown here.]
