I am building a Yuan-Ti Pureblood character who has 10 levels of Red Dragon Disciple.  The Yuan-Ti has a racial natural armor bonus,  Scaled Skin (+1 natural armor) and the 10 levels of RDD provide a +4 natural armor bonus.

1. Do they stack?

From what I have been able to read about the issue, I think they do, or at least they should.  In the two different discussions that I found on this specific issue--one being a discussion in a topic on the old board and the other being part of a character building guide--it was stated that, definitively, the above natural armor bonuses would stack.   Supposedly, if I understand correctly, the natural AC from amulets and spells like barkskin, spiderskin, shadow shield, tortoise shell, or the feat Elephant Hide are actually natural armor enhancements which, while they will not stack with one another, will stack with the Yuan-Ti/RDD natural armor bonuses.

It would seem that natural armor bonuses are somewhat like dodge bonuses, so long as you recognize that amulet/equipment and spell-based natural armor increases are different because that are enhancements to natural armor in a similar way that an item which provides, say, dexterity bonuses would not stack with other items that offer dexterity bonuses but will stack with the natural dexterity bonus that comes from a dexterity ability score of 12 or more.

2. Is the information immediately above this question correct?

3.  Does the feat Armor Skin stack with Yuan-Ti Scaled Skin, the RDD Natural Armor Bonuses, or, hopefully, with both?

It would seem, if Scaled Skin and RDD Natural Armor Bonuses do indeed stack, and Armor Skin is the same category of AC, then it might stack with both as well.   I would think Armor Skin would fall into the stackable natural AC category because it is permanent, whereas Elephant Hide is temporary and spell-like in its implementation.

If it won't stack, it would obviously be a wasted feat in my build.

Thanks for your help, and please, for sake of posterity if someone else reads this thread looking for similar information, correct my usage of terms, if they are wrong, even if my understanding of the mechanics of operation is right.

AFAIK, you're right in everything. Bonuses from spells and items (and things like Elephant's Hide) don't stack with each other, but Armor Skin and RDD and Yuan-ti bonuses stack. They also stack with Tumble AC bonus and Luck of Heroes.

Dwarven Defender AC bonus also stacks. Maybe I forget something more, but you get the idea.

Another question about how AC works. Let's say that I have, say +8 from my Dex ability modifier and enhancement via equipment. Let's also assume that I have on a suit of mithral full plate, giving me 8 AC from the armor and 3 AC from the Dex. Now, something attacks me with a touch attack. I know that the applicable AC against a touch attack is dexterity, dodge, deflection and size based only.

I assume that I will only get to apply 3 AC from my dexterity even though I could have as much as 8 AC, but only if I were not wearing the armor. Simply by wearing the armor, I limit the AC from dexterity to 3, and thus should I be attacked by a touch attack, not only does the armor become rendered useless, it also effectively imposes a -5 AC penalty to my dexterity based AC.

Is that correct?
