Last week, i was taking a bath... And somehow began to think of CC Challenge. Being submerged in water, my thoughts were dragged to wrecks, boats and pirates. Yes, we already have a Pirates CCC... But, do we have its essential counterpart: Ninjas ?

- Ninjas, Samurais and Kung Fu masters:

All you can make with connections to fictional or historical Medieval Japan (and chinese) Ninja worlds.

Ninja Weapons, Ninja characters, ninja hoods, Kung Fu clothes, traditional samurai armor, special ninja spells, Ju Jitsu kimonos, training placeables, dojos, tatamis, japanese wood castles, Bruce Lee paraphernalia, ShaoLin monks, shrines, etc. etc. We could even borrow ideas from the many existing martial arts Manga (Naruto, Bleach, name your own favorites...).

we need to add samurai and a gun weapon to this since guns back in fudal japan were nothing mroe than gunpower slingshots (basicly mmini cannons) we can just make them comaptable with the Slingshot round ammo.

if we are going orental lands lets do it right add soem Indonesian and Dojin goddies as well, placeables for desert worlds and kingdoms straight form aribain nights.

this idea is genus a Slik Road theme bravo.

Do you know how long I've wanted people to take Ryuujin's Kenku models and make them into animal parts?

... I should bother him about that, he's kicking around at the Starbound forums nowerdays, him and Hydromancer X

Yes more animal parts for stranger races I mentioned this before in a previous CC challenge, Urban i belive was the theme, when dealing with urban enviorenemtns you have people who will want to be more animal and the mages that will help them get it for the right price.

Both Oriental and Arabian have been done already, and both provided some amazing content for early challenges. I admit I would have liked to see some Indonesia/India specific things in that pack like riding elephants, chakram, or urumi. Why not suggest a South Asian theme to follow the already done Oriental one? I wouldn't mind revisiting some old themes, but I think we have plenty more great themes to go through first ;)

Matter of fact... I'll do just that.

South and Southeast Asia

Design custom content based on South and Southeast Asia. Inspirations could be drawn from Hinduism, jungle environments, and tropical cultures. Creatures such as the Bhuta, the Aswang, or the Penanggalan. Weapons such as the Chakram, the Urumi, the Pata, or the Khanda.

2012 is quite a while ago considering this is a monthly thing. thou i dont see how tentacle porn has anything to do with jam tbh (nice cover at the time thou) and if we are going into Anime and Anime inspired characters like oni girl there wouldn't it be better to have that be a part of a ANime challenge?

I also have yet to see some of the more exotic plants native to the orient Banzi, Orchid roses, and even insects like the orchid Mantis to name a few. bigger details were handled but I have yet to see smaller finer details addressed like hanging komonos wedding plaques funeral garb undertaker supply's exc

Umm... what? I didn't suggest anything anime related at all, much less anything erotic related.

I read through oriental thread some good orientals but someone should have looked up imperial palace for reference and i have yet to see the kappa (fyi that what was on the lady's chest long story troll on my personal blog wouldn't stop sending me gifs for that particularity erotic work.)

I just think it might not be a bad revisit since there isn't much content that can be considered truly Oriental in said challenge

I believe it is still accepted to resubmit to old challenges. So if there is content that someone wants submitted to a past challenge they should give it a try.

I was just thinking about a theme, since I'm fairly new around here and sadly for now only on the "taking" side rather than creative I don't want to sound too invasive but...

- Golems: How do they work?

I know, I know, NWN already had loads of golems. Some better (all Project Q ones), some Worse (Default Flesh Golems), but hey... constructs are pretty cool type of mobs, in my opinion and such theme would give the creators pretty wide range to choose with, eg. Inevitables from Planescape (we already have Marut) or Sand Golems, or some crazy Arcane Constructs from WoW... or something entirely different.

Dunno, just a newb idea... -_-

Just a couple of quick ideas / suggestions for a ccc challenge.
Just my opinion here, does not mean a hole lot but I think we are lacking in the staves department I say more staves the better.

Or not sure if this a viable option how about an override challenge. All things related to the override folder. Textures, re-skins of placeables, creatures, tile-sets, 2das. I know some people would rather use overrides then Haks. just some ideas.

Expedition to the Barrier Peaks

This 1980 S3 module was written by Gary Gygax and featured strong science fiction elements. It introduced several new monsters, such as vegepygmies*, froghemoth, alien plants, androids, and various police and worker robots. Additional gear available to the players include blaster rifles, laser pistols, powered armor, anti-grav belts, and sleep gas grenades. Finally there is the ship itself, which included sci-fi furniture, control panels, and all sorts of wierd machines and devices; there's plenty of potential for a sci-fi tileset. The module itself was well illustrated, providing numerous examples.

*There are some vegepygmies on the new Vault.

I would like to request an OOPSIES CC edition (as a theme for monthly competition).

This should include things that are broken, various placeables, and items but ALSO PCs/CREATURES.

Examples of the latter would include :

animated horizontal-plane-aligned 'torso-up' and 'torso-down' objects... so that a "stuck" creature can be made from this to appear lodged in some crevice or pipe or even stuck in the classic NWN portcullis door. Such body halves could be done for several racial types (show some love for the lizardfolk!).

How about some classic "smoking boots"?

Corpses with wagon tracks across them? or even wagon tracks I can lay across corpses.

Some of the standard NPCs done as sitting (I'm thinking we can add placeable spears and such for impalement if desired, but it would be nice to have some 'living casualties' perhaps sitting up that can be used for those dramatic dying message scenes. :D

Broken wagons. Broken doors/gates. Broken seige gear. Broken farm gear (for those abandoned farms the orcs burned out last summer). Broken furniture. Broken windows and shutters. Broken tools. Broken shields and dented helms and buckled chest-armor. Maybe even some semi-demolished BUILDINGS, WELLS, MONUMENTS (defaced) - you know, the sort of thing angry neighboring tribes leave in their wake.

In short, CAN WE HAVE A LITTLE DESTRUCTION AROUND HERE PLEASE? (meant in the nicest way).

@ehye-khandee How about combining your suggestion with my Ruinous Intent (aka Ruins) suggestion from page 20 of this thread?

There already was a RUINS theme. (I forget exactly when).

As Henesua said, we can still submit to old CCCs.

Actually there hasn't been a specifically Ruins ccc. The nearest so far has been the July 2013 ccc - Lost and Forgotten. The brief for that one was -

Lost cities, lands, and societies, Dead Gods and Vestiges of lost faiths, dangerous ruins and ancient treasures, cursed or degenerate races, creatures long thought extinct in civilized lands.

The probable reason why people tend to think that it was a ruins ccc is because the only person to make anything that month was Vibrant Penumbra who submitted a bunch of ruined wall placeables.

(Hint: Grab a copy of the catalogue of all the ccc's that I maintain - it's all in there (sorry couldn't resist  :) ))

The key word in the Lost and Forgotten thing was "RUINS".

Agreed, not specifically ONLY ruins, but ruins nonetheless.

Not trying to be negative or veto the idea in any way - I keep creating destroyed and ruined stuff for Demoness Tales where almost nothing remains intact for more than a minute after Luce arrives somewhere and Spleens start appearing, but I can't help thinking the above few posts might be better leaning toward some sort of "AFTERMATH of WAR" sort of title, just to try and put things into a more focused frame.

Friends,

Techically there is a difference, I'm asking for broken things; furniture, wagons, tools things that are used but broken (rather than disused and forgotten ruins). The theme I'm looking for is accidents/broken, eg, a wagon that has had a wreck, or charred furniture (accident here being a fire), things that are not pristine due to oopsies is my request.

Accidents, good, fine... I quite see the delineation between ancient wreckage and NEW wreckage...

But what if it WASN'T an accident? For instance, I've done quite a few wrecked wagons, smashed huts, etc for Demoness Tales, but these represent what happens when a ten foot tall Maniac Vixen from Hell throws filthy mutated Spleen Monsters through walls and things. Not very accidental. But they'd serve the same sort of purpose. Let's stick to BROKEN, rather than specifically broken accidentally, thus getting the maximum debris out of people...

PS:- I like the smoking boots idea. I'm thinking of uses for that.

NP, and yes, more clarifying. My "oopsies" was implying 'broken' so it all works for me.

Smoking boots - anyone else here an avid Paranoia player? The West End Games designers of Paranoia get full credit for the image of smoking boots as far as I know, but I LOVE the metaphore.

Now, can I sell you on the 'legs sticking out of something' with or without animation? as if pinned under rockfall/chariot/timber?

I'd like more burned / charred stuff to place in rooms with scortch marks so it looks more 'burned out'.

I'd like some dead farm animals. Some dead wildlife.

I'd like some defaced tombstones and monuments.

I'd like some visibly broken windows (parts of panes remaining).

broken plates?

broken bottles and maybe some that can be used like weapons?

broken chairleg usable as club?

broken branch likewise?

more varieties of broken table (to match the ones that are in pristine condition in toolset already)? Likewise chairs... these can be used to make an already familiar room look 'searched' or otherwise vandalized... but to be effective, we need broken versions of the same furniture to make these tableau look authentic.

Speaking of searched, maybe some 'open and disheveled dressers/tanzu/desks/bookshelves?

can I have some carpets that are fully or partly rolled up? useful (the latter) for showing 'no longer hidden trapdoors'.

Thanks for the read.

Best wishes.

Perhaps this could include 'broken' creatures: a one-armed troll, leg-less pan handler, battered guard with a bandaged eye and arm in a sling, dragon with a mangled wing or severed tail, and the classic peg-legged pirate. What about beings that have suffered a severed limb then had it replaced by a mechanical or magical contrivance? For example, a gnome with a mechanical wind-up arm?

SPOT ON, except maybe the troll - they regenerate, still you make me think of giants (trolls are giant class creatures) and this makes me wonder, wow, tree-trunk for a peg-leg on those giants.  GOOD thinking all around - lol, love the wind-up version.

To quote myself

Ruinous Intent (aka Ruins)

Not necessarily just buildings. Could include such things as ruined pictures (or even pictures of ruins) shattered statues, despoiled books and scrolls with missing passages, tornado blasted trees etc.

As you can see, I do sometimes tend to being overly terse. I've no objection to this being expanded to include all this broken gear no matter how it was broken in the first place.

For example, a gnome with a mechanical wind-up arm?

<Shudders with terror>

Reminds me of an autognome. Still I suppose a "broken" one would carry out its instructions sensibly instead of literally.

Alien Invasion

Inspired by games like x-com, x-force fight for destiny, ufo extraterestials, The Bureau: XCOM Declassified, ufo series, system shock 2 (humans made ai, ai escaped and crated aliens to kill humans), falling skies. (aftermath, aftershock, afterlight,), original x-com series, xenonauts and ufo alient invasion. This challenge would center aroun alien (invader) techs and their human (native) adaptations. Its not same as modern, becouse this focus on the alien techs.

Like organic armors, alien cyborgs, quake 4 like cyborgs, mutants caused by alien virus, atd.

Screens for inspiration
