Ah, that would explain why I never got it, since I'm pathologically addicted to mages.  Sorry, but once you light Loghain on fire and watch him flail around while you lead him on a merry goose chase around the Landsmeet just because YOU CAN, everything else is a trifle mundane

you need bring Wynne and Alistair time enough for the converstation drop at this point (or just enter/leave the smith house on Denemerin because for trigger all the conv quickly)

I agree I would want to at least know what happened to him.  Wynne reminds me of my grandma whom can be quite a nag but netherless still endearing.

Honestly, how would we know if we truly ever run into Wynne's child, unless a dev says so? Taken from birth kind of limits the child's knowledge of the parent, especially if the Chantry never mentions the mother being a mage.

Would it be neat? Not really, wouldn't have that much of an impact except that the child will have the whole orphan raised by the Chantry and possibly sent to a Circle if he turned out to be a mage background.

alright debbie downer  Just sayin it would be cool to run into or at least know about it not looking for impact or universal change on the world of Thedas to occur.  A dev doesnt necessarily have to reveal or say anything, a story or any story could write in a happenstance where son finds out who is mother is.  What kid wouldnt want to know who their Parent(s) are?

I don't understand why they couldn't have just tweaked the dialogue a bit so a mage could hear that conversation.  For example, in one conversation he called Wynne his "second favorite mage," because he was romancing me--his first favorite mage.  If you're not a mage, he calls Wynne his "favoritest mage ever" or something to that effect.

As for the son...I kind of agree that even if we met him, it doesn't seem likely that we would know it was him without the writing dropping a bunch of hints.*  I will say though that coming out of someone's womb doesn't mean you'll have that person's personality, even though personality is partly genetic.

*And of course, odds are such a meeting would mean nothing to Hawke as it's unlikely Hawke knows anything about Wynne.  However, I've advocated for meeting Nathaniel, and that probably would not mean that much to Hawke either, unless Nathaniel mentions his family and Hawke is knowledgable about the nobility of Ferelden.

Technically, they are cut off.  However, I am of the opinion that if a mage came from a background of wealth and power, some strings could be pulled.  After all, that stuff happens all the time in real life.

Wynne's son is more than likely a Templar and it reasonable that you met him in Origins and never knew it. I think it would be hilarious if her son was Cullen since he has an extreme hatred of mages. If he's in DA2 it would be interesting.

Well, not all men of the Chantry are Templars.  It's possible he's a Templar, but I wouldn't say "more than likely," mainly because we don't know anything about him.

I mean how mages are cut off from their family, they could engage in relations with a family member without knowing it. Hmm but I suppose being in their position, mages would be quite cautious with who they do it with.

If Wynne's son was fathered by a mage, which he must have been, then isn't it likely that he himself was a mage and perhaps even raised by the Circle. There's no way Wynne would have known. Is it possble the "Anders" characters we see in the image of Hawke's party is Wynne's son?

... I just blew my mind. That would be SO cool.

That's exactly the problem with the Wynne's son thing - he was taken as a baby by the Chantry. It's likely he never knew who his mother was and she doesn't know who he is. Now, I suppose if he *really* wanted to know he'd eventually be able to find out.

However, meh, that kind of character placement just seems forced. Oh, Wynne mentioned him once so here he is now!
