Hmm, I remember the first time I played the Deep Roads on Normal (I'd been playing on easy before that...this was before they adjusted the difficulty) I ran out of injury kits in the Dead Trenches and all my party were sporting broken bones, concussions, gouged eyes and whatnot. There was no way I could fight the Brood Mother in that state so my only option was to walk ALL the way back to the start of the level (which is quite some way), back out of Orzammar, and then off to the Dalish camp to buy elfroots. What a pain in the arse!

I had to rerun an entire section once for a similar reason.  I feel your pain!Posted Image

I guess I'm weird in that I love the Deep Roads! I think it's the scenery. I just think it's cool and like to explore it all.

You know what I REALLY hate? Locked chests in the origin stories when you're not playing a thief!!!!!

Though that is kind of teasing, none of the items you'd gain that early in the game are worth much.  I mean, you get Leliana as a good lockpicker quite early, and before then, there's I think 3 chests in Ostagar/Korcari Wilds that Daveth can pick simply from his cunning stat.

I do understand where you're coming from, though; most of my characters are rogues (my playstyle usually lends itself either to sniping/archery, lockpicking, and/or magic, and I'm also somewhat of a completionist, so I hate leaving chests locked that I know I'll never be able to come back for.  Plus, unlocking = xp, and who wants to pass up on free experience?

At least there's none in the mage origin. That would just be sadistic.

The long, long walk from the Brecilian ruins back to camp because backpacks are full. Why can one not simply exit to the world map like in the Deep Roads?

The delayed explosions of dead abominations. I once got killed because of it after the battle music had turned off and I was waiting for my health to regenerate.

Given all the cuts and outtakes
(Morrigan turned in to the circle templars,
Endrin letter and Aeducan shield for the dwarven
noble loose end, unused vellums, cut human farmer
(commoner) from Highever origin, (...),
I would have happily waited until 2012 for BioWare to
polish Dragon Age Origins.

1. The long walks, check. I am yet to figure out how to dive the Brecillains Ruins w/o having to return to town at about the point you waste the Arcane Horror.

2. It's Monty Haul. As always with Bioware games there's just too much good stuff and by inch and bit each one feels less special.

3. Let's loot the Wonder of Thedas! It annoys me that I'd get more value from killing Bohdan or looting the Wonders than I do slogging through the deep roads. I should never be able to buy the best items in the game but I can.

4. The garnet quest. It is way too easy to sell off your stock of these stones before you get the quest and there just are not enough of them around if you do that.

5. Gorim's line "Fine Dwarven crafts" sounds like "Fine Dwarven Crap" and I hear it about 8 gazillion times as I cross the market place.

It's soul is a console, rail game...You don't have any real freedom...

Go for a swim... Nope. You can't even really go in any water...
Go run thru the forest off the beaten path...Sorry.
Go to places in the game that Bioware didn't want you to go...Ha, right...
You can't pick up anything, steal anything worth stealing and running naked thru town doesn't even get a blink...

I know, I know this isn't Oblivion, but I wish it were more like it... Posted Image

The game is all about choices, and one of the ways out of almost every situation is killing someone. But somehow it doesn't give me a choice to kill anora. That was a hit bellow the belt. I can kill anyone, ANYONE! But when it comes to that **** the game just tells me to go screw myself. That's the only bone I have to pick with it.

Oh, and also - where is my Dog, Bioware? I though the mabari follow their masters everywhere. Then how come he's not with me in Vigil's Keep? Especially considering the fact that I was going to Amaranthine not for a weekend but most likely for several month or even years. It would've made sense to bring my dog with me, especially since he's a friggin warhound, not some lapdoggie. ALso pretty strange that the Keep doesn't have any trained mabaris which are supposed to be Ferelden's army bread and butter units.

Camera angles are not conducive to ranged and area of effect attacks, leading to epic camera angle struggles while the game is paused just to get a single well placed shot off.

There are many ledges and objects in the game that SHOULD provide an advantage to an archer or partial cover, but instead, there is apparently some invisible barrier there that blocks my attacks, yet apparently the enemy's attacks can still reach me... wtf?

Lack of attention to detail. The Deep Roads and caverns lack the glowing lichens, luminous pools of water, crawling black darkspawn corruption, and pools of filth that made them interesting in "The Calling". The ruins lacked the piles of skeletal and armor remains still laying as they fell in their final battles in Orton Thaig. The forests had very little variation in foliage. The Circle Tower's floor plan made little sense.

The Mage Origin was poorly designed and scripted. I felt like I was playing a Harry Potter game. It did not convey at all the oppressive atmosphere and constant threat from the Templars that you read about. It's supposed to be a beautiful building, sure, but also horrific prison with little light and no personal freedom. There are suposed to be Templars patrolling the halls, harassing the mages, and stationed as guards in rooms. The Chantry and Templars seemed downright pleasant asside from the whole right of tranquility thing, and the harrowing was pathetic. Likewise Jowan's lines and voice acting were so cheesy and childish that I had to make up my own version of the storry inside my head to justify the whole origin playthrough.

I also wish for more closure on certain roleplay stories in the game.... like having a burial and some camp dialogue after killing that certain important ghoul you encounter in the Dalish origin. Or telling the Dalish keeper or his aprentice about what we discovered in the ruins after the Werewolves are dealt with. Details like that would have been really nice.

Oh, I agree.  Especially when you have a skilled assassin on your team.

Speeking of which, I thought it's also pretty lame that Zev can't go with the Warden in Awakening... or Leliana... or an Alistair who is not King nor a drunk...  Awakening's premise makes little sence to me, which is why I've not bought it.

hmmm...    yes, have to agree with many things...

one thing that really bothered me and still does is the ham-handed way my dog was dismissed near the end...  There's no way I would have done that to my loyal furry companion!!   grrrrr     That part bothers me everytime I see it...    makes me go homicidal afterwards...   lol

first play-through of the game I hadn't read anything about DA:O and had no idea where all the companions were or much of anything else for that matter....     I didn't even go into the tav where leliana is and hence never saw her at all...   only later after reading a bit more did I realize there was a potential companion in that particular tav...   huh?      So I went through the whole first play-through without ever knowing she was there...   Lothering becomes unavailable after that so I had no way to go back and get her as I only had a couple of saves and had overwritten them a few times...    that's one thing that really fried my butt when I realized I couldn't go back to Lothering for the entire rest of the adventure...    they should not have made areas unavailable like that....  there's just no reason to do that....   grrrrr

all in all though it's a cool game, I'm playing through with several new characters now that I know the story a bit better....   and discovering how much trouble I can get myself into...   lol

This made my day.

On topic:
My biggest issue is the amount of removed content that still lingers about, particularly in regards to Jowan.
Other than that... glitches/bugs.

another thing I thought was a bit silly was how near the end when you've been through endless enemies and quests and have fought countless monsters and bosses and dealt with death on a minute to minute basis and you get to the final area and everytime I open a chest or whatever I would get a basic leather helm or simple dagger or whatnot... wtf? after all that in the last area all you get is a useless leather helm... that just doesn't make any sense... you should be getting the "Sword of the Heavens" or some such, not worthless garbage... lol

Jowan when you are the mage origin and you get his quest. I finally figured out how to get it using the console and he just calls me Warden. That S.O.B. I went above and beyond for him in the name of friendship, defied all logic and common sense and even fairness and we should have had "a moment" between friends. Come to think of it the entire game lacked origin specific moments that should have been. No reaction to Tamlen by your supposed friends at camp. Shianni and your da never hug you, why NOT! There shoulda been a moment! I am not as familiar with the dwarf origins but I bet there are opportunities for moments that were totally missed by bioware. Just to add those moments to the game I would pay $20 for the DLC because I am a story **** and love enriching the story. As awesome as the game is I wiah they had not ignored those moments that should have been.

My entire first playthrough I was stocking up on blank vellums because I was so sure they could be used to craft spells or something (especially because there was some sort of ink drop item, I think!)

Don't even get me started on the stupid fancy vases, silk carpets, engraved bowls... *raeg*

You forgot all the malachites and other gemstones... This is especially annoying when you are in dire need for health potions, better equpment, weapons, injury kits, etc. and all you get from chests are such useless things. Or maybe even more annoying: When you run out of health and health potions during a fight and you by some miracle manage to kill the last enemy. And the loot from that enemy? Health potions... It's like the game sometimes likes to mock you.

1) Wynne

2) "Can I get you a ladder, so you can get off my back?" SHUT UP

3) "Dwarven crafts, fine dwarven crafts" (See above)

4) Cammen

5) The Fade (the visuals give me a headache)

Perversely enough, I actually like the Fade for the NPC dreams. I only wish there was an option to talk about the dreams later with the companions who you saved... they were such painful, insightful moments into their characters.

The only part I really don't like about it is the endless mouseholes in the Templar's nightmare. But the usage of other transformations reminds me of more action/adventure games, ie Legend of Zelda dungeons or something.

(I really hate the bacon chant lady in Denerim too, once was funny but I hate hearing it every goddam time I walk into the marketplace!)

I hated Wynne's dream as I had to see it every single time I went through the Fade...or at least I did until it occured to me that if I saw it was her dream I could just go back to the Fade pedestal without going through it.

I didn't like Niall's hairstyle (or his voice for that matter, too damn whiny, even in the opening when he's NOT trapped in the Fade). The bangs just looked...off.
