We have been told that the two npc's, Varric & Cassandra, are discussing how Hawke has brought Thedas to the brink of war.

Does anyone think that we'll get to see this war?

Will it translate that the flashback style narrative ends say, 2/3 of the way through and the finale is all out carnage?, or will it be set up for a sequel?

Could set up for an RTS based on the DA license.

Don't give them ideas.

Experiment with RTS by creating a new IP pretty please.

If I had to guess, I'd say this.

I'd be happy with scavenging battlefields, the most profitable part of any war.

More so than putting the whole of Thedas under your dominion?

I hope not.  I don't want to spend 1/3 of the game fighting mobs and mobs of enemies.

Even in DA:O, I start to lose interest in the game once we reach the final assault on Denerim.  For me, the fun stuff ends after we leave Redcliffe castle.

On the brink means it never came to it, but it almost did

I thought it meant the point where it was just about to happen but could be avoided, I don't think it would make for such compelling narrative if it was the story of how the whole of Thedas nearly went to war, but didn't.

Well, it could be, maybe I just misunderstood it. If it says it CAME to the brink of war, that means there was never actually a war. If it says it IS on the brink of war, then yes, it could happen

Uh?  No it doesn't.

On the brink simply means that, at that specific time, you're on the precipice of some event happening.

I think I read somewhere that the chantry was dissolved or something like that

You're mixing different phases of the Plan:
1) Battles
2) Scavenging
3) Rampaging cities
4) Thedas domination
5) Cake

It's Dragon Age 2, so scavenging is ok for me, we had battles in DAO.

I think the end objective will be to prevent the war and it will probably never happen, just like the Blight never actually started (and you had no choice in the matter)

Well to avert war might be the writers end scenario, but I'd like to be able to cause it.

Nope. I think this will be the setting for DA:3, hopefully with an epic comeback of the Grey Wardens.

In the sequel maybe.

Since Hawke's story spans 10 years we'll probably be playing a new character in the sequel, hopefuly an elf or a dwarf

Yeah. They will probably continue with having a fully voiced character whose Gender and face can only be customized.

Hopefuly not. Being made to play as a human is bad but I think being forced to play only a dwarf of elf would be 10 times as bad.
